I saw a video of a private poker club. The dealer cleaned the chips in the pot with wet wipes after every hand. This seems reasonable. I would also clean the chips once they are pushed to me. I think the more layers of protection the better.

I'm thinking the games won't be great to begin with anyways. Everything is gonna move slower. I'm gonna take a wait and see approach to this. Hopefully all goes well. I'd prefer to wait for the virus numbers to significantly go down. I'm sure there will be mistakes made and lessons learned along the way.

This situation is simply not gonna be ideal for a while.

"Dealer, hand sanitizer is right" says seat 3 whose been coughing in his elbow all afternoon.

At PBKC they say they'll ask anyone who is sneezing or coughing to leave for the day. They're going around making sure guys aren't wearing their masks hanging off their nose and stuff.

Is live poker dead for 2020? No.

When will it return? May 2020.

How will it return? Differently in each state and even within a state.

Even I was too pessimistic. I expected before July 4th but made it before Memorial Day. Not widespread, but will be more and more. If nothing drastic happens from open casinos and or at the rooms already open, expect to start seeing a “flood” of rooms opening in early June. And four handed will not be the norm, probably six to eight.

Since Dumbo's post turned into a heated argument I moved it to the other thread.

Probably. The players pay for almost all of them.

My husband is a floor and I am a dealer in the poker room here. Got our letter today. Was this a perfect opportunity to close down the least profitable thing in the casino? And are other rooms going to do the same? Will the rooms that stay open survive 4handed poker? What is really special is I found out through a Facebook news article before the letter arrived in the mail. Insurance runs out next month. Crazy crazy times.

Sorry to hear that. Boyd Gaming? They're also laying off 600 employees at Ameristar KC.

Hollywood at Kansas Speedway reopened yesterday without table games but plans to add them in the near future. No plans for poker anytime soon.

Trip Reports

Bestbet Jax- No promos, 6 max, masks, temp taken in entry by camera, drinks & food at table. Plenty of space. Cobblestone system not linked to website which is what it would ideally be used for. They had (3) 5/5 plo, lots of 1/2 & 2/5 NLHE & 100/200 PLO (private room). It was good action for most part. This was 2nd & 3rd day it was open.

Daytona Kennel Club-6 max, Promos (200 High Hand), masks and temp taken at entry by security and license scanned. Action was lacking and wasnt super busy. Had 2 games of 2/5 NLHE and few 1/2 games. The few there were friendly and happy to be back. This was 1st day it was open.

Orange City Poker-6 Max temp taken on entry and license scanned. Masks worn at all times, hand santizer each time you get up. 1/2 plo and 2/5 were decent action. The room wasn't packed, but was a good time. This was 2nd day it was open

Two tables, one board, dealer sits in nucleus with improvised felt table extender to join tables. Uses chip hook to reach chips and mucked cards. Four or five players at each table. Use with or without plexiglass dividers.

Tell me how this "won't" work.

It's not a question of what 'works' .. it's more toward 'do they want to even attempt to make it work' IMO.

It's well documented on this site that casinos are 'square-foot' driven. So now you're taking what some see as a marginal business endeavor and taking up almost 100% more floor space ... not going to go over on the accounting side.

Any effort to bring back poker will take a lot of support from management to provide this 'service' to what probably is a limited portion of their customer base. Obviously rooms where poker is actually the base business will have to make the effort or remain closed until restrictions/suggestions are loosened. GL

I’m not telling you it won’t work for anyone. But I’m telling you it won’t work for a decent amount of players who just aren’t interested in playing in a game like that. For me, that’s just not even close to a setting I want to play poker in and based on other people’s feedback, I’m not alone in feeling that way.

I’m also not sure if offering a game like that is economically feasible for card rooms without having to increase rake. Doing that might also decrease the number of players.

The following might make me sound like a total a**hole. When they showed/interviewed the people in line in front of a local casino that opened back up at 8AM on Monday, my immediate thought was that I have zero interest to spend my free time with that kind of crowd.

Madlex, I couldn't agree with you more. Maybe I too will come off like a jerk, but even before Covid I was getting tired of the poker players I was spending time with. To be sure, people probably said the same thing about me. I'm really beginning to wonder if I'll ever play live poker again. And I won't play online. Saw a story recently that more online games of all types are getting hacked. That's where we are right now.

Daytona & Orange City(Florida) are going from 6-max to 7-max today going forward. Masks and temp checks still on entry.

In agreement with some of the above posters. I love live poker and its frustrating not to be able to play right now. 6-8 max is ok but when you start talking about plexiglass, everyone wearing masks, temperature checks, etc you just lose me. The social aspect of poker is what makes it enjoyable and all those things ruin that. I understand what is going on in the world but I'm willing to wait it out until things return to the way they were. Hopefully every poker room in the country won't be bankrupted before that is allowed to occur

Thanks for the trip reports.

IMO, food should be banned at the table for all poker rooms. Even with out the coronavirus, it's pretty nasty watching other players lick their fingers while eating and then touching cards.

And while we're making changes, let's have all poker rooms have a bathroom attendant who's sole job is to berate people that don't wash their hands.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Trip Report

Day 1...they are only allowed 14 tables. All have these plexiglass dividers & masks. Cocktails are served. Comps (don't know what they are). Smoking in casino part, not poker room. Huge poker lists and cant wait in room. 6 max tables. You can be away from table 30 mins, annoying when the old guy walks around, eating a seat up, when another is already been gone as well, with massive list and short tables. Definitely less social than other places. Hard to hear. Extremely awkward overall.

well they wouldve noticed had it expired. (mine has in march) or if it was from a state required to quarantine. heres the real important issue. besides this one casino, were any of the other casinos asking for ID, or is this the only one in florida u know of checking ID when people enter?
