And I think they will. People are really getting fed up with shelter in place.
Speaking as a recreational player, I don't see me going back until there's a vaccine. Today's news reports that a mutant variant of the corona virus is much more deadly and more contagious than the first one.
So no..if I can't play poker and stay alive then I'm going to have to live with the memories of when poker was the bomb.
I keep running through my mind all the players I know that poker was their life. They got up in the morning and played poker all day every day.
The guy that moved from NYC to Connecticut to play stud poker every day.
The guy and his wife who played poker every day and every night and had the room comps down to a science, running from Philly mid-week to Borgata every week-end. The wife would collect the free drink coupons from the sports book next door to the poker room. Feel bad for her having to pay her own booze bill now.
The guy with Parkinson's who lived alone and whose only life was Borgata poker room.
The pro player with his mistress that rendevoused always in casinos all over the country, staying in a comped room for a night or two. Wife is either happier now or more miserable that she doesn't get a break from his cheating ass anymore.
The guys from NYC that would descend en masse from NYC to Borgata every weekend to play poker and sports bet.
All the wannabe young gun rounders who tried to gauge out a paycheck at the tables. Do they have jobs now? Or do their parents have to support them even more now.
The one poker room manager whom I detested, how is he handling the loss of his power and privilege, gone in a moment. I even feel badly for him.
All the poker room personnel and all employees that lost their livelihood, those are the people who I feel for. I hope they get back to earning a paycheck real soon. I hope they don't lose their homes as well.
I wonder how they're handling the live poker drought?
I feel badly for me and if I'm hurting, I know they're dying.
I hope poker rocks live again soon. It's just so sad.
