What is the best low buy in tournament in Vegas? What is the best low buy in tournament in Vegas?

Hi,
I been doing a little research on this on AVP, but never having played a live tournament in Las Vegas it is hard to just guess which tournament is the best low buy in offered. I am basically looking for a tournament that has a buy in of $45 or less. I really did not want to play in a rebuy tournament either. Having one small add on would be alright I guess.
I really want to know where a low buy in tournament with a great structure and weak competition would be. I am also wanting to find one that is fairly popular and the payout would be such that more than just the top 3 get payed. Thanks for any info you can give me.

I have never seen a tourney at 45 or under on the strip. You may randomly find one outside the strip or on a off day (weekday - slow period). The only under $50 tourney no re-buy that I have seen is in AC or Foxwoods.

I may be COMPLETLY wrong - and in most cases I am.....

So best of luck!

My favorite low buy-in tourneys are at Planet Hollywood. I think the morning tourney is either $60 or $65 and the afternoon and nighttime tourneys are $80 or so. The structure isn't great but you get an hour of low blinds and then another hour where the blinds aren't outrageous.

There's also the tourneys at the Orleans and Sahara that are in the $60-80 range but they are off the strip.

Yeah, I thought I saw that Luxor had a semi-decent low buy in tourney, but that structure just sounds horrendous. I am hoping to get some feedback on someone who has actually played in some really low buy in tournaments in Vegas that they thought were decent. My bankroll just is not big enough for those $80 tournaments. I am basically looking for tournaments with buy ins almost half that amount. It looks like a couple tournaments I saw listed on AVP with low buy ins sounded decent. One was a weekday tournament at Excalibur. I am new to live tourneys and I want to get some experience with a chance to cash.

Thats the thing Grinder - you may be looking for someone that does not exsist.

The lowest I have EVER seen is the $60 - and like others have said its a terrible structure.

What I would suggest doing is just finding the low sit-n-go's and trying your luck at those. Pretty basic and if you play them right you can cash in a few pretty quickly and get you BR up.

That is how I started my first BR when I first turned 21 at foxwoods. Played the $120 9 handed sng - $500+ for 1st and you ussually get a good amount of donks on those.

The Sahara is a monorail stop and so it is virtually on the strip.

You can get to the Orleans via there shuttle
to and from Bill's gambling hall.

The PH website shows the 10am tourney as $60. If you sign up for a card, you get an extra 500 chips giving you a total of 4500 chips with the blinds starting at 25/50 iirc, 20 minute blinds. It's a decent structure for a low buy in tourney.

The Sahara website shows a buy-in of $45 and a rebuy of $20.

WARNING! Do not play the Luxor tourny. Worst tourny in the history of poker!

I played the Luxor tournament and the players are awful, but the first hour of the tournament is limit? I thought it was odd.

Best low buy in for $45 is at Sahara. I would recommend you shell out the additional $20 for the add on but you don't have to do it. They run it at 11am, 7pm and 11pm. For the biggest field you will need to be there for the 7pm tournament.

This. It's technically 45 dollars, but you're way behind if you don't get the 20 dollar add-on.

FTFY

O'Shea's has a $45 tourney (although only $30 goes to the prize pool).

Most people consider the strip ending at Wynn, like most people consider Labor Day the end of summer... while technically not true, it pretty much is.

I think I am now armed with the knowledge I need to be able to play in some low buy in tournaments that are actually decent. There was another daily tournament that sounded interesting and that was the Orleans, but that is kind of high for my bankroll. I also think somehow my original post was taken to mean I wanted to know what the best low roller tournament on the strip was, whereas I meant all of Las Vegas even outlying casinos. If anybody has any first hand experience in some of these low buy in tourneys I would really appreciate that input as well.

I have played in the ones at caesars palace. The blind structure is alright. I believe the buy in is $60. Kind of small fields but the ones I played in were late at night, never saw a field over 30 people.

I played in the $50 + $10 tourney at Planet Hollywood last week. The structure wasn't that great but neither were the players.

The best low buy-in Vegas tournament? I'm not sure it exists.

Between the vig and the fast structures I don't think any of the low-limit tournaments in town are beatable in the long run. Given that, I agree that the Sahara is probably your best option for buy-ins (and add-ons) under $100.

I played the daily $85 NLHE tourney there last week, won it in fact. The structure is great, 7500 chips, 20 minute blinds, standard levels starting at 25/50. There were 75 entries when I played (New Year's Day) but they tell me it is often more on weekends.

The cheaper daily ones there are short stack, like 2500.
