I was recently reminded of this weird poker evening from about 20 years ago when the only poker on the east coast was AC. There was a network of home games all around greater DC, some better than others.
The host of one particular garage venue had money to burn. He had a construction biz, but it seemed like it must be the most profitable construction biz ever by the way he spewed money on poker, cars, watches, etc. He would lose at least $2K every Wednesday night and those nights always ended up with him drunk and/or stoned. I hated the atmosphere, but I was making an average of $1K each 5 hour session and it was only 15 minutes from home, so I stuck it out.
I don't know what started this, but something got the host angry and that something was related to pecker size. So to prove his manhood, he dropped trou and put it on the table. I looked away, but the other players hooted and hollered and the game went no where after that. It was taking 10 minutes a hand bc of all the laughs, anger, trash talk, and threats to put it on the table again. I cashed out and never went back.
Later than night, the host's wife, also a drug user and well known hothead, took a hammer to his corvette a few thousand times, smashing every window and body panel. From what I heard, the next day after everyone had sobered up, they reported it as vandalism so that insurance would cover it. Somehow during the process of the police getting involved, Mr. and Mrs. got in a fight again, words were said, and the host was arrested in possession of over 20K pills of some opiate. The source of his extravagant lifestyle was revealed.
