let's keep this thread alive.

This was years ago. Indian casino, small poker room maybe 6 tables. Mostly 3/6 LH and 1/4 stud but there is sometimes a bigger game of 6/12 LH. Drew is a small squirrely (5'6" maybe 160#) cocky college boy and likes to slow roll, mouth off and needle people. Gus owns some liquor stores in town, Spaniard maybe mid-30s 6'2" about 250#, nice enough guy but I have seen his temper flare once or twice.

I'm sitting at a table next to the 'big game' and hear some commotion. I look up just as Gus takes a handful of chips and rifles them into Drew's face like Noloan Ryan throwing a fast ball, hard enough to actually draw blood. Gus gets up and starts choking the living crap out of Drew. I figure it will last a few second and sit back to watch this play itself out. Only it doesn't, Gus is literally strangling Drew to death and the Dealer, nice smallish blonde classy girl, Jackie, starts screaming for the floor and they are getting close to falling into her while she is trying to cover her bank.

I can see no one else in the retiree group is going to do anything so I stand up and say in a calm low voice 'hey Gus, stop choking Drew' No response. Strangle continues. I put my hand on Gus's arm and nicely try again, nothing. So I upper cut, hard, Gus's wrists and he lets go of Drew and squares up on me like it is go time. At the time I'm mid-40's, work construction, wrestled and boxed in high school and college but know I'm going to have my hands full with Gus. He has about 4" in height and about 40# on me.

He has a red hot look of rage on his face and raises his hands and starts to come at me. I set my stance and know there is only going to be one chance for this to work so put my left up as protection and have my right cocked and aimed at his jaw. All of a sudden Gus comes to his senses, like a person snapping out of a sleep walking episode, and sits down at an empty table.

Security finally arrives, seemed like forever, and tells Gus to stay put and start to triage Drew. Run his ID and turns out he has a warrant so they call the Indian Police to take him to Indian jail in Sells, AZ. If you have never been there before let me assure you that a white college kid does not want to go to jail in Sells.

While they were dealing with Drew, Gus slipped unnoticed out a side door and went to the other poker room in town. Fun times.

Back in the early 1980s, I was playing in a 6 limit lowball game, waiting for a seat in the 20 limit. I saw a guy get up with no chips, watching as I was hoping to get a seat, but he said to hold it and left. About 15 minutes later, he came back in, rebought and continued to play. Oh well.

Perhaps 20 minutes later, two police officers came in, walked up to the guy and pretty quickly had him in handcuffs. Turns out, he walked to a quickie market about two blocks away and robbed it to get his rebuy.

My husband's brother left his wife for a younger, much prettier woman. Not a critique, just a description: Kathy was overweight and very unattractive. I figured I'd splurge and take her out of town to Vegas to get her mind off the fact that her husband would be emptying the house that weekend, of most of their belongings, their four sons helping him load the truck.

We get to Vegas, share a room at the Bellagio, which was the last time I ever shared the room with anyone I wasn't married to.

I'm playing 30-60 LHE and the table is wonderful, mostly regs, a good time being had by all. Kathy is a slot player and I was funding her. She came to the table for more money and sort of fell into the chair that was empty next to me. Her eyes fell on, I'll call him Cowboy, a gorgeous young 40ish man that looked like a blonde Tom Selleck, mustache, hat and all. I mean this dude was drop dead gorgeous. His wife would stop by now and then and she was a beautiful blonde with the sweetest manner about her.

My soon to be ex sister in law starts hitting on Cowboy. She was as subtle as a loud fart in church. Unabashedly coming onto him. It was horrendous to watch. I walked her from the table and told her to stop, he's married and his wife is gorgeous and a size 0. She said she couldn't help it, she was smitten. For the next hour or so she just went after him like a runt of the litter kitten at its' mother's teat. I was dying of embarrassment. I was mortified that a 50 year old woman that nature had been unkind to on so many levels, was brazen enough to think she had a shot with this guy.

Forward later that evening, I gave up the game around 1:00 a.m. and went to the room. As I started in to the room, I hear a huge commotion. I rush in and there they both are, her and the Cowboy, she astride him having the time of her life, hooting and hollering. I slipped out but not before the Cowboy looked up from the pillow and winked at me. I was scarred for life.

I never felt badly about her husband leaving her after that night.

First, that isn't true. Second I understood the movie reference. Third, I fail to see what it had to do with a guy robbing a store for a poker buyin.

because in the movie the guy goes to rob a store for money to gamble on the basketball game, same thing only different.
