One of the many reasons slow rolling should be a capital offense.

Lol, chill. They are friends and it’s up to the OP to decide whether or not he was crossing a line on etiquette.

I doubt he would ever consider doing something like this to a stranger.

I didn't connect that he did it to his friend. I see it now, but I didn't realize at the time of my post.

A bit of nittery, but lower SF would have had to be a 5 high if this is true.

Incredible, a "nit" criticizing and getting details wrong.

What are the odds?

He didn't say it was a lower straight flush, just a lower flush.

Well SF is assumed because you can't have a 6-high flush that's not also a straight.

Tell me more about this 5-high flush though.

Anytime I make a flush and the highest flush card in my hand is a 6, I announce it as a "6-high flush". Many dealers do this as well. Of course it's technically a "(highest flush card on the board)-high flush", but saying that isn't very informative. That's what I assumed was meant here.

He can't have a 6 high flush at all if his opponent has a royal flush, but we all know what he meant.

I don't even understand what this post was trying to correct, even though we all know the correction was wrong. Why would a lower SF need to be 5-high instead of 6-high?

Such a short comment was wrong in so many ways.

Board is any combo of three cards that can lead to a royal.

Two other cards can lead to a wheel but never a 6-high SF.

DUCY?

I said nothing about a SF. Not sure why you quoted me.

Suit is right (no 6 high flush) because for other player to have royal, the board must have 3 broadway cards of the flush suit. And those are all going to be higher than the 6.

There could be SF over SF with a royal and a steel wheel. But that would be a SF no a flush and not 6 high.

If you have a royal flush, must have 3 broadway cards on the board. If you also have a "low" SF, that means you must have a Ace on the board. To make a low SF with an A on the board (with two other broadways) it can only be 5 high

What OP probably meant was something like...
J 10 vs. 5 6 with a board like A K Q and maybe 2 3 but really you don't even need the any more than 2 of the flush suit to call it a 6 high flush because if you are against another flush (not SF) it will be your 6 vs. their whatever big flush card they have that decide the winner.

Playing in Montreal 1/2, seated next to an old rec player. Quite a jovial guy and and been chatting with him on and off prior to this hand:

I fold some trash hand preflop in an unraised pot, old rec shows me AKo and then folds. I almost ask him why, but manage to stop myself lest I ruin the action for the remaining players. A player in a later position raises and gets 1 caller.

Flop comes Ad Kd Jx... I proceed to look at the old rec but he seems unfazed, just sitting there sipping his beer. The two players who are heads up manage to get it in on the flop with Qd9d and JJ. River brings a third diamond, Qd9d takes it down.

Old rec is cognisant of my incredulity during the hand, turns to me and says, "I always fold AK because it always loses."

I got a good laugh out of this.

last night 1/2NL..

Hero (KK on button) raised to $17
Villain (BB) reaised to $60, Hero calls
Flop: QTx - ck/ck
Turn: Ace - ck/ck
River: Jack - Villain - ck, Hero overbets AI for 200ish more, Villain tank calls

Villain tables pocket Qs, Hero shows Ks for straight. Villain says I put you on AK. Just found it to be weird/funny seeing how he put Hero on a hand that beat him yet still called.

South Florida can be weird enough as is but add in live poker and oh boy...

In my 3 years here i have seen...
- someone die in the ultimate pit (tragic).
- Guy hallucinating and getting into an altercation with a person that wasn't there (said he was gonna beat the piss out of the guy behind him who kept talkin ***** but his back was against the wall) kept callin the guy Ace and muttering to him in between hands
- Got offered "services" from a prosti at the card room and politely refused, she got offended and her pimp rolled up on me and threatened me
- watched an 18 yr old hit a massive BBJ on his b day w/the $100 his parents gave him as a gift then saw him punt it off over the new few weeks playing ultimate and 3 card...

Just to name a few

Watched someone allegedly put a Haitian curse on another player at the table this weekend. The guy was kissing his palm, muttered some chant while pointing at the guy, wrote something down on a piece of paper, walked over to the other player and ripped it up then threw it at his feet before storming off. Poop was weird

Seminole Hard Rock last night:

3 way action on the flop 38Q rainbow. OMC raises all in against two absolute maniacs.

Hero hits the table along with the customary wishing of "GL all-in!"

OMC deadpans, "I don't need your luck."

Hero says to others not in the hand, "I'd rather be lucky than good but w/e..." Table and OMC look at Hero like he's the ******ed offspring of Forrest Gump and I am Sam.

On the river, OMC shows a flopped set of Queens. Maniac turns over J8 offsuit - which had hit a runner runner straight.

I just sipped my beer as he realized the err of his ways having cursed the poker gods. I couldn't bring myself to rub it in with an "I told you so."

Possibly had an illegal in our game at Commerce. Mexican gentleman sits down. He has literally no idea what is going on. Doesn't speak or understand any English. Eventually the dealer showed him how to get chips so he bought some. When action would get to him he would look around confused and then put money in middle. He didn't really know what was going on and slowing down game. They called a floor over who tried to speak with him in spanish. They made him leave game. No idea how or why he ended up at the poker room lol.
