^ Yet another example of how the one-chip all-in bet/call just causes problems and should not be allowed.

Final board is as wet as possible. 3 straight 3 flush and a pair. Player 1 bets, player 2 raises, player 3 calls all in for less and tables his hand immediately with a boat. Player 1 hasn't acted on the raise yet ponders for a minute and calls with his straight.

last night session.. I'm in sb with QThh, it folds to me and I look to the bb and say "I'd like to see a flop" instead of chopping as the high hand promo had rolled over 2 times at this point.

He obliges and we see a flop of J98 rainbow. it goes ck/ck as clearly we/I no longer had a chance at the high hand and in my mind I'm not going to try and take this guy to value town as there didn't really seem like a point.

The turn is a K.. I check, just planning on checking it all the way down. bb says "a friendly $4".. I said "ok, a friendly $8".. he snap pushes for $115 ai.. I'm shocked how quickly things escalated and take a good 10 seconds looking at the board to see if I missed anything.. I finally call and the guy turns over T8..

I was all set to simply check it all the way down and I was even going to give him back his bb as a 'friendly' gesture. after the hand the guy left and the other players where looking at me in disbelief and just said, 'what the hell just happened?" only response I could come with was "I have no clue".

You should have responded with "Just a friendly game of poker."

Many years ago at Canterbury Park MN. The room had been open a couple months, but they designated Memorial Day weekend as their "Grand Opening" weekend...whatever.

During this weekend In the middle of the night I think it was Sat night/Sun morning, there is a 2/4 LHE game in the far corner, I was at another table. One player has an enormous stack and is busy building an elaborate castle. He is at one end of the table and the other 3 or 4 players are at the other end so he has plenty of room. I was told he asked to buy into the game for 5k and the floor said no, but they let him buy 2k. When he was done building his castle he bought 800 more and built a moat around it, it was very impressive.

When he was finally done he started to rack up. He placed racks on a side table and by the time he was done there were 2 columns of racks next to each other 13 rows high, which means he lost about a couple hundred while he played. When he went to pick them up they started to wobble and he set them back down. It looked like he was going to simply push the table, which had wheels, to the cashier cage. Other players at the table goaded him into carrying the racks instead: "C'mon, don't wimp out, you can do it!" He once again attempted to lift the racks and two seconds later dropped 2600 poker chips onto the floor.

It sounded like a clicking waterfall that didn't stop for about 10 full seconds. When they all came to rest there was an area the size of a poker table where you could not see the carpet - it was entirely covered in light blue $1 poker chips. Two security guards showed up at the table so fast I couldn't believe it. There was much applause from the other tables, none of which were near where the chips were dropped.

Seems like he would have T7 not T8.

Don't know why this popped back in my head recently. March-ish 2011 I was playing 1/2 with a Vegas local we all called Moses, presumably because of his long white beard and hair. He never really said much but occasionally he'd chime in on something. Heads up on the river and there is a smallish bet to him. He thinks about it for a while then says "Oh well, the world is ending soon anyway so why not" and calls. It was a small pot so I don't remember what happened. There were a bunch of news stories going around at the time about various end of the world predictions coming due soon. Another guy at the table says something about the singularity coming and robots killing us all, I jokingly say I think it will be the Mayan calendar thing, and we go back and forth for a minute. I look over at Moses and his eyes are bulging as he looks at us and yells "No, the world WILL end on on May 21st and if it's not then it will be 5 months later!" He then goes on to tell us the unmistakable signs pointing to it. He finally stops and the whole table goes dead silent. Nobody says another word except those necessary to run the game for a good hour until Moses calls it a night and leaves.

It was then I finally learned to never talk about religion at the table even when something seems safe, you just never know.

I never did see him again, I wonder what he's up to.

That's a great story.

As to Moses, my money is on "Raptured".

So I just sat down at 1/2 NL at South Point to play some poker while I drink and sweat some sports bets on TV.

Brand new game with 7 players. I’m in the BB.

UTG raises to $10, gets four callers and I knuckle my TT instead of reraising like I might do to thin the field. First hand, and I’m just settling in, right?

Flop: TT2

I check, UTG bets, gets a call, I call.

Turn: K

I check, UTG bets, gets another call, and this time I min-raise. They both call.

River: 2

I bet small, UTG jams, other guy folds, I call...and win a $50 high hand bonus on top of stacking the guy with KK. Nice.

VERY NEXT HAND:

I raise UTG w 98.
Get 5 callers.

Flop: 7x65x

Well okay. I bet, get 4 callers.

Turn: 5

BB shoves all in with a short stack. I call. everyone else folds.

River: 7

BB turns over K7 for the boat, but I just made a straight flush.

And Add another $100 high hand bonus.

Two hands played, two high hand bonuses, two opponents felted. Up $740.

Now that’s weird.

Think I’m going to go take a walk and get a hot dog.

What's even more weird is how you were BB one hand and UTG the next. Do they play counter clockwise poker at South Point?

A guy came in the game on my right and bought the button. So I was UTG.

Full ring 9 max guy with top pair top kicker min bets into a 40 BB pot also min bets turn. River trips hit the board and suddenly opponent bets out pot to be insta called by min bet moron. He then complains about his luck. Donks say the darnest things.

I look forward to seeing that one day.
A guy showed up with a bird at my local casino. Probably about 6 inches tall, yellow colored. It sat on his shoulder and in his jacket pocket for about 6 hours. Every so often it would chirp once loudly which for the longest time I thought was a smoke alarm. A few dealers/players gave him puzzled looks, but no one said anything.

I felted him with AA v KK. He left unhappy.

TDB.
Only relevant if he gave you the bird as he left......

Hoping to liven this thread up as it's been dead for several months. I've only been playing poker for a few years so haven't seen the funniest/weirdest stuff, but had this hand happen to me last year.

Every year a buddy and I go to Vegas for a week to get hammered and play poker as a vacation. It was about 3am at Caesar's Palace and I look down at pocket nines. After a few bets/raises preflop I end up shoving and he snap calls with QQ. Obviously not a great move PF but I was there to gamble and have fun. I end up hitting a 9 on the the river and shout out "BINK!" and proceed to move his entire stack into mine (he was seated directly to my left). I then take a victory lap around the entire poker room in absolute elation feeling like I just won the WSOP hitting my 2 outter. Unfortunately, the rest of the table didn't seem to share my excitement and were dead silent when I returned from my quick jog.

Don't reach into my stack ever. This story could be told about you from some observer not in the hand and everyone here would respond with "holy ****, what the **** was that clown thinking?"

Told from the perspective of two good friends clowning around, this is pretty standard. However, if it was not terribly obvious that you guys were friends and you were just razzing him, I would think you were the biggest tool known to man and probably quit for the night

@ the Aria LV in April. 2/5 no limit game.

Had a guy tank over 2 minutes with a royal flush on the river after the other player shoved all in with a lower (6 high) flush.

Then flipped over his hand, and then laughed incessantly at the guy, which made the VIP leave.

I mentioned the guy left because you were just mocking him for minutes after slow rolling the crap out of him. (something to that extent) where he responded back by saying something like why dont you mind your own $@#! business.

strange fish in vegas.
