I sit down at a game yesterday…

I’m in the 7 seat and villain is in the 8.

In 10 minutes of being there villain makes trips 3x w trash hands. He’s calling, raising, in every pot. He’s bluff raising rivers w nonsensical hands. An 80-100vpip mouth breather. He shows up w a 4x in a 3b! pot then he shows up w 95o in a raised pot, then shows T5 etc. This is in less than one dealer down. This is just the hands we’ve seen. I haven’t seen this player type in what seems like 20 years.

He’s also rationalizing each play and talking Strat after each hand. I can’t understand a word he’s saying as he’s wearing a mask and basically speaking nonsense.

Villain has a mask on and is coughing. Not a normal cough.. like the most disgusting mucus coughs ever.

I move to seat 4 to get as far away as possible.

I immediately start thinking this guy should be removed from the table.. the casino.. perhaps even hospitalized. The casino used to do scans and temperature checks but now the “pandemic” is over no one cares. Dude is visibly a walking Black Plague and the Casino doesn’t even recognize it…

He predictably gets crippled down to 50bb and a plo game gets called so I leave. A friend of mine at the table stays and gets villain for a couple buy ins.

But what do people do in this spot?

I really didn’t want to get what this guy had ..

is there a price on your health?

Also if you were this sick would you go to casino and infect the world?

It is a matter of how much risk you want to take. Leaving where you live involves some level of risk. You could have run into a tree on the drive there and die. However for most people, they are willing to take that risk. FWIW, moving away from him staying at the same table really didn't help you much at all. Viruses spread quickly. It is a matter minutes difference in sitting next to him vs. being across the table. Unless it is a big room with HEPA air filters, moving to another table doesn't help much either. He's already exposed the other areas.

If I wanted to reduce the risk of getting what he had, I'd have an N95 mask in the car that I'd get if that situation came up or just go home. The key with the mask is that you have to put it on properly and leave it there. You can't wear it like a chin strap. If the mask is working properly, you should have some level of difficulty in breathing compared to normal. The vast majority of people won't do that.

I'm a rec player and don't have to play. If I was sick, I'd just stay home. I'm a 15 minute drive from two poker rooms, so it is always available. If you're addicted, you're not going to care much about others.
