In new York right now / there is really no work for me. I’m a 1-2,1-3,2-3,2-5 player and thinking of going to hard rock Hollywood , hard rock Tampa , or Las Vegas for cash games . I consider my self slightly past recreational level and want to take it somewhat serious for a little while . Any reccomendstions of where to go as only places open .

Thank you

Go to Hard Rock Hollywood...the mask and glass at tampa is awful.

Or go to Houston, TX, which is rather pro heavy at the moment in some of the clubs.

Vegas has more games at your stakes than Florida on any given day under "normal times"

But games are soft at these stakes wherever you wind up. Look into cost of living to help you decide...

I'm also from NY and I was a full time pro. Vegas has only 5 handed games in about 6 rooms, Orange City FL has 9 handed games, and Turning Stone in NY has 7 handed games but you have to live within 120 miles in order to get into that casino.

I've been on a 3 month staycation but I'm also thinking about going to either Orlando or Vegas. Both trips cost about the same for me but with Vegas being twice the flight time and only 5 handed games (when someone gets up it's gonna be 4 handed a lot), I'll prob end up in FL next week.

From a Covid aspect:
Florida population has a higher infection total.
But Las Vegas regularly has visitors from all over the country (and the world).
IMO Las Vegas will lead to a higher chance of infection vs playing cards in a static population(Florida).

So no brainer/Florida. Plus from my somewhat limited experience Florida games are WAY better than Vegas.

This is accurate. But- Florida has a much older base population, and has done much more testing. A more vulnerable population is the 65+ age group. Florida has much more of this cohort; and is much more populous in general.

Agree Florida is a better choice, especially for a younger person. Games-wise and QOL wise

I believe the Hard Rock Hollywood has the same plexiglass and mask requirements as the Tampa Hard Rock.

If you want to move to Poker's current hot spot, it would be Texas. Please look up the Texas Card House videos on YouTube and you will fall in love. They have locations in Austin and Houston right now with Dallas to open 'soon'. And they aren't the only company running card houses either, but they are the most aggressive one when it comes to social media.

Florida is still the most recent poker hot spot as well (some may say Baltimore/Philly) since there's a lot of folks with various forms of disposable income/cash around the tables most of the time.

Without the other reasons to go to Vegas .. mainly conventions/vacation .. it would be a struggle to find consistent 'juicy' games there IMO.

Summer is typically slow ... and with LOTS of Players outside the US right now it will be interesting to see how quickly the games heat up when they return. GL

you should generally play where you want to be unless its for a short period. you just play better when you are comfortable with your surroundings.
your sized games are all going to be good wherever you go. and if not move on. the only way they could be bad if too high a rake or all super tight players so no money in the pots.

Games in Houston and Austin Are unlike any game you have ever played anywhere!
The 1-3 cash games play like 2-5 or 5-5 NL. Games get so big buddy last weekend Won 12k in a 1-3 NL Cash game in 4 hrs with 1k buy in!

Sounds like South Florida is better than Jacksonville game-wise? What about the max buy in limit in FL where I read it's only 50BB? Is that still in place statewide, or I got incorrect or outdated info?

With every passing day that I can't play where I'm at (room still closed), I'm more and more seriously pondering relocating somewhere else especially if remote work becomes a real option for my job. TX and FL sounds like 2 good options. Not sure what to think about the legally grey status of the TX rooms tho.

The old 100 cap on buy in in FL is no longer the law, it's normal now.

No talk about TX gray area rooms in this forum please.

Buyin limits in SFL range from 50-100 min for 1|2, 200-300 max, 200-1000 for 2|5. 2500 max for 5|T at the Hard Rock Hollywood. I haven't played all stakes at all rooms though. Of the rooms that I've played at recently, Big Easy is 8-handed with no plexiglas, and the two Seminole owned rooms, Hard Rock Hollywood and Coconut Creek, are 7-handed with plexiglas. All rooms run high hand promos. 1|2 is a joke and 2|5 has a few decent grinders but overall the games are pretty soft. I think the Holdem games at Big Easy are nittier and they don't run 2|5, but the PLO action is supposedly good there.

Isle is basically dead. Right now they only have 4 1|2 tables and a small tourney running, on a Friday night. 13 tables are listed but 5 of those are tourney and 4 are table games, not poker, which they choose to list in Bravo for some reason. The room was going down the drain before the lockdowns IMO.

Found SHR, Hollywood games softer than Vegas Games. Just my experience. I got used to 6 max (in NH) pretty quick and now prefer it. Better weather in FL, in case that is a consideration.

I live in South Florida and it's pretty good right now... Palm Beach Kennel Club, Big Easy Casino have easy 1/2 games and no dividers (just masks). Hard Rock Coconut Creek and Hollywood have good games too but do have dividers, which I hate.

Was thinking of Vegas too sometime in December but not sure how its going out there... I think they have been EXTRA strict due to COVID

Is it just me or does the kennel club have much better games than coconut creek and hard rock down here? I feel like seminole casinos are hit or miss but you can almost always expect action in the kennel club.

As for the TC, I would recommend the kennel club if you come down here.

London-The Vic (Grosvenor Victoria on Edgewater Road).. Hippodrome, Empire are ok in Leicester Square. They all just reopened after shutdowns

Czech Republic-Kings Rozvadov (any stakes, very high rake. But always games, now that it is reopened, just in middle of nowhere). Kings Prague (usually just a 25/25 plo, only good for EPT time, so next year really)...2 small.clubs in Prague, Ambassador (lots of prop players) & showdown club, both in Wenceslas Square small for tourists mainly.

Those are your best places during pandemic right now, with places opening/closing with various country lockdowns.

Duriny Non pademic...there's a long list, depending, but the ones above usually always going...
