Jen Tilly is fairly annoying.

Tilly is annoying but there's something about her I like....
My favorite is those ladies events where they get all catty with each other and are about to start clawing faces, least favorite is the magician, tbrunson, thaler, and people that dress like harry potter

I know this isn't popular around here, but Barry Greenstein can get on my nerves a bit sometimes. Whenever he says something he has this tone in his voice like he's speaking absolute truth and no one can or should challenge whatever it is he's saying. He has this very dogmatic way of speaking at times.

He's a very good player though and I respect his game a lot.

Without a doubt the most irritating person has to be Negreanu..

Everything about that man makes my skin crawl. The irritating little laugh and his "god aren't I clever because I made a read" manner make me want to vomit everytime I see him play.

The board comes up three hearts, he's hit bottom two pair and the player has shoved his re-raise on the turn.

"oooh.. let me think.. I think I am behind.. I guess you've got a flush.. I am gonna have to fold"

Cue the player showing a flush and he sits there giggling like a schoolgirl

"ooh... I read him right.. did you see that.."

I seriously would punch his frigging lights out if he sat on my table...

The only player that I genuinely dislike is Tony G.

I'm not a Matusow fan, but he's been ok lately. The first few seasons of High Stakes Poker were brutal watching him.

Does Rick Rahim count? After a while, I want to punch him in his fishy fishy face. He's the kind of guy I would tolerate at my table (through headphones), but only because he's such a giant spewtard. Since I can't actually get money by watching him on TV, he just tilts me.

Negreanu is one of the most liked and likeable players out there.

So, that makes you look like an idiot.

He was one of the most liked players. I doubt he is now. Or maybe I'm wrong.

Just watch the earlier seasons of HSP(1 through 4) and compare how he was in them and how he is now. Same goes for old televised coverage of tournaments, PAD episodes, etc. He's become a lot more bitter now possibly to do with him losing a lot and the game being harder etc. His reads are off most of the time and his demeanor now seems forced.

I think it was Bluff magazine I was reading earlier this week. Negreanu was voted as "Favorite Male poker player" and "Favorite poker Tweeter."

If I hear Doyle say, "It's always good to win the first one..." one more bloody time, he's going to make a strong case for himself to be in the conversation.

I think couple of people here before mentioned Scott Lazar, the magician with AA vs Matusow's KK at WSOP 2005 ME FT and I did not like him much either.

I would just like to defend him a bit here, as I have just read an interview with him and he actually seems like a very nice dude who in fact does know a little bit about what he is talking about. He also mentioned he was a cash game semi-pro around that time.

he has one of the most FT/cashes (Don't know which one). But I think ESPN just cut down the tv coverage of him after 2007. A little brenes from time to time is fun, but in about half the episodes, nah

Completely disagree with the picks. Any serious list should start off with these couple of names, no matter what (positioning is debatable):
Spoiler:

1. David Grey
2. Jamie Gold
3. Annie Duke
4. Howard Lederer

Also, define 'tv poker players' please. Are we talking about any players that ever played in a televised game, are we talking about professionals, are we talking about players that made it X times in programs, etc.

If it's just whoever has participated in poker shows then your list can be completely scrapped and rearranged.

Rick Rahim, Bob Safai, Billy the Croc etc.

How can people say Tony G or Rick Rahim? We're not going on holiday with them we're watching them play poker on TV! Action players can only be good.

The painful players to watch are obviously nits. I remember Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer just being useless furniture in HSP. But what tilts me are the Phil Laaks and Mike the Mouths who can't shut up but who are just waiting for premiums and set-mining, exactly the same strategy than the regs in my local 1-2!

Another 5 star thread brought to you by the Raging Bull... I've given this a lot of thought, here goes:

#10 - Sam Simon - his appearance on High Stakes Poker was a complete embarrassment and one of the biggest disappointments in the history of the show. The creator of the Simpsons didn't crack one single joke, and barely said a word. He acted like he was above everything else, a total snob... and yet he played tight horrible poker and lost some money and left after a very short session. As Homer would say, "DOH!!"

Wow, he didn't seem like a snob at all. Bad at poker? Yes, but you need a few noobs in high stakes TV games.

#9 - Shannon Elizabeth - an attractive woman, sure.. but a comment she made on the National Headsup Poker Championship will live in infamy as the dumbest thing ever said in poker television history. With one card to come, she tells her friends and supporters, "I've been studying THE SECRET. We attract into our lives what we think about. Don't think about a deuce and it wont come on the river. Dont think about that card." This dumb broad was actually convinced through Hollywood New Age teachings that her thoughts could influence what the river card would be. Enough said.

You must be gay

#8 - Doyle Brunson - If I have to hear one more round of applause for Doyle as he exits the WSOP on day one, I will throw up. Ok, we get it, the guy is a legend. He wrote the book on poker. We know! Will this guy please retire already and go play with the grandkids! Its not so much Doyle himself that is annoying as is the reaction of the other players to him. Stop blowing him everytime he loses the WSOP. Its embarrassing.

I agree with you on this. I am tired of watching people fawn over him as well.

#7 - Daniel Negreanu - Does anyone talk more during a hand or after a hand then this guy? "What did you have? I know you had pocket nines,.. I put you on ace king. I have a pair of queens. Would you have called a river bet?" SHUT UP! The only thing worse then hearing him talk about the hands is hearing him talk about golf.

yeah, he doest talk a ton but I still like watching him play. He is good for poker and good for ratings.

#6 - Patrick Antonius - one word: BORING. He might be one of the best cash players in the world, but he isn't fun to watch. He is a statue of boredom and arrogance, sitting there for hours without saying a single word. I don't think he is entertaining and he shouldn't be allowed to compete in televised events anymore.

This is the FIRST time I've ever heard him called arrogant. Wow. I love watching him play. Who else has the guts to call with Queen high on the river in a cash game? Hmm?

#5 - Chris Moneymaker - the guy that started the poker boom. Im sure he is a nice guy and an okay player.. but he had his one day in the sun. Its over. We don't need to see him ever again. I repeat, its over. Goodbye Chris... Goodbye...

I don't like watchig him play either, but you don't make a good point about him at all.

#4 - Scotty Nguyen - I win baby, aces baby, you're drawing dead baby... Guess what Scotty.. there are other words in the english language besides "baby". This guy is a rude annoying person that has a one word vocabulary. What would Scotty actually say if his wife had an actual baby? I think he would be speechless.

He had ONE appearance on TV where he was rude and apologized profusely for it.

#3 - Barry Greenstein - Claiming that "math is idiotic" after cracking Tom Dwan's aces still ranks as one of the most annoying moments in televised poker history. Couldn't Barry have refrained from making this wisecrack after putting a $500,000 bad beat on his opponent? Barry is a classy guy and a humanitarian, but this moment is so mega-annoying that it lands him on the list.

How in the world was this an annoying comment? You put him on the list because of 10 seconds?

#2 - Eli Elezra - I dont even know where to start... the annoying accent? The fact that he brings flowers to the table and smells them? His annoying grin? The greasy hair and leather jacket? This guy is like an Israeli Fonzy from Happy Days. He is part of the "old school" poker club with Doyle and the other dinosaurs.. time to retire him from all future airings of tv poker.

I agree with this one. His accent tilts me so hard

#1 - Antonio Esfandiara - This is a no-brainer at the number one most annoying spot. The Magician is a walking talking attention hog and bs artist that irritates everyone at the table. He has to proclaim "I love this country" every few minutes to get attention.. he tries to con everyone out of something after every hand. "I'll give you $500 if one of your cards you folded was an ace." He makes rude sarcastic comments after every hand. Even the hands that he isnt involved in, he has to shout things like "good luck boys". He wears loud annoying shirts. His buddy-buddy thing with Phil Laak is almost collusion, the way they work a table together with their sidebets and scams. You know he has entered the game, because he proclaims "hello ladies and gentlemen".. An ego-maniac, pure and simple.
OMG you're a moron. AE is awesome. Humble yet confident. Funny. Good at poker.
