Why haven't I heard of this? Same writers as Rounders. I can't find it on google and there are no seeders on TPB and other major sites...

Lasted one season on HBO. Lots of cliches and bad acting/writing imo. Didn't cast poker in a very good light at all (cheaters, murderers, etc).

It was one of those things that was so bad it was watchable. Sadly, I would probably watch a second season. They were all on FIOS demand free for me if you have Verizon. Although I watched them like 5-6 months ago so they may be down now. Prolly super cheap on Amazon though.

It was bad (not very poker-accurate and cheesy lines) but it was the only poker show we had, so we watched.

It was on my provider's on demand for free recently too. I rewatched it and actually liked parts of it more since I didn't need to focus on plot, but overall it is still an epic fail.

There was a great show "Lucky" that lasted about one season on FX, starring the guy that was on Northern Exposure and Sex and the City. He was kind of a Stu Ungar character, without the drugs. Won the WSOP, then gambled it all away and was living day to day hustling, etc. Really good show.

Madsen just tilted me, Im a fan of most of his off the wall work, but this was just terrible for him. One of, if not the worst poker show/series/movies ever made.

If that tilted u then watch the movie 'All in' . Madsen makes the bold claim that he has never lost an all in bet.. while moving all in. He then procedes to lose the all in bet and drive off of a cliff.

Update:

This series is terrible. I just watched the first 3 episodes and gave up. The plot, acting, dialogue is all really bad. The poker isn't that great. It's like no one knows how to read board textures and think they have the nuts or it's a standard cooler, but the winner thinks they "outplayed" their opponent.

Even if all the characters were replaced by Matt Damon, Edward Norton, and John Malkovich, it would still be terrible.

The writers of "Rounders" really screwed up and this is probably the reason why there was never a "Rounders 2" even after a huge poker boom.

Final hand of WSOP was standard. 66 vs AK on a A-K-6 board and Hero tanks and gives a speech when Villain shoves.

Yeah this show was a joke and they did all they could to make poker look way more degenerate full of crimes then it is.

If they want to make a real poker series they need to either get real poker players in the show itself or at least on the writing/production team.

I'm amazed by anyone who thinks the show was anything but laughably awful. The acting and lines were absolutely dreadful. The poker itself was really bad too but since that would escape most people it's not really a big deal. But the whole show was so poor it almost defied belief.

Back when it was on we couldn't get enough of the truly idiotic lines around here.

"I wipe my ass with 8 grand....9 if I had chili."
"Triple up and double it?!" "Exactly!"
"We gonna be like Creed and Rocky at the end of III." "Ding....Ding."

There was also some funny quote at the underground game where they all pull the guns on each other. Something about a string-bet and "pull back the chips and lets play some cards" but it was way worse and stupider than that.

Really enjoyed the part in the first episode where the guy who barely knew how to play decided it was a great idea to put his life savings on the line against the experts (who I believe he suspected were cheating...but he evidently wanted to lose all his money to them to confirm it).

There was simply nothing in the show that many any sense at all but it was so pathetically horrible you couldn't turn away. A pretty big embarrassment for ESPN.
