I've missed it too.

Unless point is AOM just coached the LAG on how to induce bets from himself.

Yeah, I don't see from what was described how the pro was a jerk. He raised flop, c-bet and gave up. No jerkish behavior was described.

If the old man was the jerk, as it seems based on his reaction, then how did he get owned if he won the hand?

Different kind of jerk I'm guessing. Go sit down at a limit table. Raise preflop 2 or 3 hands in a row. You are now a jerk in eyes of most of the table...

If you think callipygian considered the agressive pro the jerk in his story, you are mistaken.

I made it clear it was the old man in first post. Somehow the old man going on short rant but not losing the hand is him getting "owned". This story is not applicable to this thread.

Calli's point was that by rudely schooling his opponent, he stopped getting free money from the guy who bets with nothing...

....I guess.

lol apparently my story just pwned everyone in this thread

AOM is describing good poker - when you have something you bet and when you don't you don't bet. He means it as some kind of insult but he's basically describing how he's losing tons of money to the pro.

Saw this in the Breakroom thread:

"I know we all know the rule, but how many can actually say they saw it happen?...now I can! I was substitute DR floor/dealer at one of our sister rooms across town.

9 seat cash game. Button on 1. Board; 10 4 7 A 8. On the river 6 bets, 9 shoves AI. 6 calls. 6 turns over A6. At this time 9 nudges me and shows me 10 8 and proceeds to throw hand face down. My first thought is she is giving this guy the pot because he was on a bad losing streak and seemed sad, and she had some chips. However the pot was still around $250 (its a 1-2 NL) so that couldnt be it. Then I just figured she didnt see she hit 2 pair. Oh well tough break...or was it. 6 has a bad habit of asking to see hands in these situations because he called the bet on the river, and wants her to show. I managed not to grin, but for some reason couldnt help but ask "are you sure" (I was holding back saying her hand is live if she shows because it felt like I would be swaying his decision because of what I saw, so the "are you sure' came out instead). He said yes. I flipped her hand up and gave her the pot.

He was a bit upset but stayed calm. All of a sudden players were searching the Internet to find if this was the rule. I said after the dealer came back from break I would show them the rule (they even searched here too - OBVS in agreement with my ruling). I showed him the rule and he grunted and said "gee, I guess Im not doing that anymore".

I'm still waiting to see this happen. The winning player asking to see the losing hand is such a stupid idea.

This is my favorite story in this genre:

A guy sits down in the 5 seat of our $1/2 table and immediately takes a mega arrogant stance: he leaned back and shoved his arms out to both sides to encroach upon seats 4 and 6. Before he was even dealt into a hand he lets us know that he's played poker for years and that we know nothing compared to him. During hands he would swivel his head around imperiously to give a condescending look at whatever action was ongoing and make negative comments after each hand. For the record, I was ready to vote him off of the island almost immediately, but that not being an option I had to be patient.

Then he got into it with the dealer (a truly great dealer) and was quite rude with her. Why she didn't call floor, I don't know, but she didn't. I think she sensed that he would go out in a greater blaze... At that point I sent a prayer up: "Dear poker gods, please let me get dealt a hand that will make this guy leave crying".

Sure enough, within a few minutes I am on the button and open up my hand to see pocket aces. Mr. Arrogant is UTG and immediately raises to $15. Call. Fold, Fold. Call. Then it folds to me. I reraise to $45.

The blinds look alarmed and fold.

Mr. Arrogant swivels his head around, gives me a "woman, you are 6 kinds of stupid" look, bellows "ALL IN" and simultaneously shoves his roughly $300 stack in front of him.

The guy next to him instacalls. Everyone else folds and I call, having him covered (yay!).

Mr. Arrogant gives me a sneer and jumps up slamming his hand onto the felt: pocket kings

Seat 6 gleefully stands up slamming his hand onto the felt: pocket kings

The table in awed silence turns to look at me.. I turn over my aces.

The flop comes out:

5, 6, 7 rainbow

the turn is an 8

Mr. Arrogant and his King cohort start yelling for a straight to chop the pot.

The dealer slowlllllllllllly turns over the river card..........

it's

the

ultimate

neener

neener

boo

boo

I

got

you

card:

an Ace

Why are you jacking with a good story?

Yeah, I don't get it. All of the cards were tabled, the bad beat doesn't just magically go away because she then flipped her cards back face down and then into the muck.

If they didn't pay it out, I would hope the witch pays everyone at the table their share if she didn't need the money anyway.

That story is entertaining however I have heard variants of the story in different poker rooms. There is one that I heard back east about that happening at the Borg for 300k, same characters (young guy vs old rich women). The first time I heard it I believed it and the more I heard it the more I believed it was just card room lore.

Can anyone directly confirm such a tale with a first hand account?
