We were asked to first introduce ourselves not needing to tell the panel about anything on our resume as they knew all about us and that we were all qualified to be there. They wanted energy and happy happy fun info about ourselves. They had asked us to put a super hero name that we aspired to be like or to invent one and explain why it was chosen. After all of the introductions we were divided into 2 groups. Each group then picked a piece of paper out of a box with a word on it. Each group had to use their word chosen in a song that had to be sung out loud in front of the panel. Then we had to repeat the process using the same same word but singing a different song. After this, each candidate picked a slip of paper from the HR hostess each one had a question on it that needed to be answered. Example: If you were the star of a movie what movie and why? or If you could own any car in the world what would it be and why? etc. (changed actual questions to protect the innocent)
Then we were herded back downstairs and given a piece of a puzzle telling us that we completed step 1 of 3. When 3 puzzle pieces are collected then you would have a job. Then the hostess asked a few people to stay because there were errors on their applications that needed to be corrected. LOL These were the actual candidates that were asked back for step 2 to be scheduled later and the the rest of the applicants were told they would receive an e-mail if they were selected....They were all of coarse not selected. Not one poker or Management question was asked. Just HR psycho stuff that will get them HAPPY but not Serious Poker Managers. Good Luck to them. Hope this was enlightening.
This is similar to the experience that I was told about in late June. In fairness, having been trained by Stan, the Ruler of the East, I honestly don't believe Raye had a hand in developing that interview procedure. There must have been a lot of people applying. It kind of makes me sick, almost like we're not serious about the game. I don't need happy, happy shift managers and floor supervisors. I need smart ones who will make the right decisions in the best interest of the game and players regardless of their choice of super hero's (Hmmm I wonder what the choice means to Dr HR, PHD).
It's really hard to choose who I'd want to be since they're all so nice and, well........ I'm not. But, I think I'm Batman. That has to mean I don't have a career at Sugarhouse. He's not the happy happy sort, but he most reflects my dark side. Yeah, Batman has to be a failing response. I guess I will be getting that never arriving email. But, I can sing pretty well. I do it many mornings in the shower and sometimes in the car.,...maybe there's hope
