Slow-roll Rant... Slow-roll Rant...

I've been playing poker for a while and I've gotten slow rolled before. I never get in arguments at the poker table and always keep to myself. But some slug discusting pig slow rolled me, and waiting like 30s to roll over his hand... I even knew by the time he flipped it he was slow rolling.

Question: For you ass-hats who slow roll what is the point, like you're the cancer of the poker scene. What thrills do you get out of it, have you ever gotten your face kicked in after the game?

For the slug fk who slow rolled me at Seneca Falls NY around 11 AM 10/7 on the only cash table open. I hope you read this post by some unknown reason, and know I can't wait to see you again.

I was all in with pocket aces and I had a guy slow roll me starting with the flop.. he pulled his shirt over his face and asked the dealer to read the flop for him because he "couldn't see". After the river hit, I turned over my aces and he then proceeded to slow roll his pocket deuces (he'd hit a set on the flop and had already seen that he had before he pulled his little attention getting stunt). Thankfully I believe in karma...

Most men live lives of quiet desperation. Slow-rolling is their way of sticking it to the man. You thought you were going to beat me again, didn't you? Surprise!

This line has always served me well in similar spots when dealing with jerks:

SIPOWICZ: Was I discourteous, or disrespectful to YOU, and I don't remember?

They do it to piss you off/put you on tilt/get a reaction of some sort.
Nothing would make him happier than seeing this thread.

What are you going to do when you see him other than be reminded of how ridiculous he made you look?

Sounds like you are a reg so I think you are fair game to get slowrolled

OP, you typed out your little diatribe like you're talking to the douchebags in your local poker room but basically everyone here will agree that slow rolling is bad because we don't like to tap the glass. If you're this upset, go wait in the car park for the guy, the internet doesn't care.

This. However, don't do something that is going to get you arrested.

While I have used that time to start talking with my neighbor about the game on TV, I've recently thought a better approach is to put a redbird out and say, "5 bucks says this guy is trying to slow roll me. Any takers?"

Slow rollers want to get a reaction from you. That's a win for them. As soon as you put the attention on him, he's the loser.

JHC Slow rolling is meant to tilt you OP. It is annoying to be slow rolled, but it looks like he tilted you so much that you made a 2+2 thread about it. Now that's a slow roll that really worked.

If you are one who gets upset with slowrolls, ask yourself this---if someone tried to slow roll you, but it somehow turned out that in fact YOU won the hand, would you be mad at the slowroll? No, you wouldn't care; you'd just be happy you won. So when you actually get slowrolled, your pain is actually due to the loss of the hand; and your anger at the slow roller is really just because you have learned in the cardroom culture that "slowrolling" is supposed to be "bad" and now you feel justified in turning your anger on him.

So it really is a waste of emotions to get mad at being slowrolled, think of them as scum, think you were insulted, whatever. It all means nothing, just laugh it off and move on to the next hand, otherwise YOU are the loser.

This post belongs in the poker logic thread, I think.

Are you going to kick his face in next time you see him?

Some people are just too stupid to realize what they are doing. I got slowrolled by a guy one time that was so blatant that it did piss me off. We got into it a little bit and he apologized and acted like he was really sorry. 2 days later he did it to me again. This time 2 people at the table called him out on it.

Later that session I slowrolled him in return which I have never in my life done before. He didnt even notice. The guy is just a dufus. All I did was waste 20 seconds of the life of everyone else at the table which makes me a dufus.

All you can do is try not to let this stuff bother you.

If I knew that I could tilt someone as hard as the OP, I would be tempted to slowroll too.

I never slow roll, but I understand why that might be a profitable thing to do against people with your kind of tilt issues.

I don't think it would fly to tell the table that you are gonna turn over your cards tomorrow afternoon.

If getting slow rolled upset you enough to start a thread I would suggest you quit poker. It isn't a big deal...

There's some OMC types that would be happy to collect their hourly comp and not have to play a hand for 8 hours .

Only if they put TVs to a Matlock or Murder, She Wrote marathon.

They come to play poker to lord it over other people: Good.
They come to play poker to win: Bad.

The two don't usually go together.

I have a personal rule, every showdown someone else wins, I say "nice hand" like I mean it and move on. Sometimes it hurts like hell but I think polite professionalism will serve you well. Also if someone is trying to upset you, they are not getting what they want from such a response.

A player who likes to slowroll told me that he doesn't slowroll me because it's no fun since I don't react.

If you get slowrolled, tell the guy that you heard Stephen Paddock played poker and really hated getting slowrolled. Then, wink at him and try to laugh so that it sounds like you're a sociopath.

This is why I strictly follow the showdown rules against any unknowns or against people I think could slowroll. Obviously this doesn't work when you're OOP but the best thing to do is not even acknowledge what they're doing. They're losing players trying to get the most enjoyment out of poker as they can.
