If you're gonna use a valet service, make sure to lock your glove compartment and trunk (i.e., where you keep your car registration or other docs that have your home address and other personal information) and only give them the valet key to your car. Otherwise they may look through your stuff and give/sell your home address to their homies back in the hood to come give you a visit where you live.
I do that, although I doubt my 1997 rust bucket with 185k on the clock gives the impression I'm worth visiting.
I don't do it for safety, it's just very convenient.
I rarely use valets at casinos because it seems like robbing Peter to pay Paul, timewise. You get to the poker room faster, but you pay it back afterwards waiting 15 min for your car. I'm probably just not tipping enough.
Is there something particularly dangerous about this region?
it's not extra bad
but people i know who live in the area are always commenting that i need to be careful and combine that with the fact that you definitely see some people who homeless and/or on drugs and could casually decide to try to rob you and you probably are holding a ton of cash just not a chill experience
