The Killer Bunny (TKB)

Description: Aged twenties to mid thirties (though a few are older), cute (often with dimples), and absolutely deadly. They combine a great poker sense with female jedi mind tricks and heart warming dimpled laced smiles. Most are friendly and talkative without being obvious and they instantly get on the entire table's good side.

Plummage: Their outfits are normally simple but cute. Casual shirts and jeans that show off their femininity without being overly overt. Occassionally, they will be decked out in pink.

Poker Style and How to Play Against them: By far, TKBs are the most dangerous players in all of poker. Similar to the bunny from Monty Python's Holy Grail, they rip out the throats of unsuspecting male poker players, especially male players over 40 as they are found of 'taking it easy' on her. TKBs are typically TAGs, and have both Live and Internet experience so they are up on the latest theories and trends. Their style and skill level is very similar to the Semi-pro's with the added benefit of being more unreadable. They also know how to exploit the weaknesses of male players (especially male ego) and maximize their table image. Counter to popular belief, TKBs do not fear big bets and often will manipulate/trap LAG TCVs and MAGWEP. Their games are solid, they have great hand selection vs. position, and know the math. They also play their reads and exploit their table image fairly well. They key to playing against TKBs is to understand how they view you. TKBs do respect 'decent' players and the Semi-pro so if you have a strong game and table image, the TKB will move on to easier prey and not target you. It's best to just play TAG ABC poker against them and likewise move on to easier prey. Warning: The absolute worst thing you can do against a TKB is let your ego dictate your play.

Cracked up over the OMC (Old Man Coffee) section. I call it the "Grumpy old man morning table"

You are the outsider...they have been playing wednesday morning for years since retirement...and if you raise anything less than TT...you can expect looks from the whole table saying "What the hell do you think you are doing?"

Stealing blinds is the only way to beat the rake and profit at these tables...not very juicy...but consistent small profits. If they call you...they got the goods. Just check fold and raise the next pot.

Thanks for the post...great read.

When you go to the page using Google Chrome, it offers you a translation which isn't half bad.

I was told about the Russian translation and just wanted to mention that I love the photo accompaniment. One of these days I'll get around to writing a live poker book using this thread as a starting point.

Meanwhile, I'm currently at the Borgata grinding 5/10. I've created a challenge thread here:

Unfortunately, nobody seems to be participating in discussions about hands. As such, I'll try to include more MAGWEP and OMC-type details in future updates, but would love to get some hand history discussions going

Kind of awkward when she starts asking you what music you're listening to, says she really likes it and starts flirting with you under her boyfriends nose though... definately need more of these player types in the games !

Yesterday I had my first live session. I was very amused to see the various archetypical players there. The ubiqutous OMC, the Internet Kid, the friendly whale, the Degen Kamikaze Hyper-aggressive maniac.... It's amazing just how accurate some of these profiles are.

orrr the Hardened Butch Competitor(beat up looking, or manly looking, actually has skill, talks to NO ONE at the table and looks completely miserable even when having a great session)
Within a few orbits a super-serious looking 50ish woman wearing a suit sat down one seat to my left. Once on the BTN she started raising and quickly stacked a passive fish with a flush on the turn. Next hand on the CO, she stacked another fish with two-pair. Throughout the session she play a solid TAG game. Despite winning, she continued to look super-serious and did not even smile a single time!

I avoided playing her OOP like the plague.

Haha.. This is excellent! Great descriptions of player types.. Funniest for sure is the MAGWEP.. I feel like I see one at least on every table I play on.. And he is generally so unaware, it borders on the delusional.. Quality post mate! Any update to this a few years later?

This is yet another reason why I enjoy live poker - I especially enjoyed the opening part on behavior.

A good reminder for me to be a courteous player

I agree with ALMOST everything OP says, except for one thing, and that is bankroll requirements. Most players, good or bad, will NOT last in the live NL arena with 10 or even 20 buyins. I'm not saying it can't be done...I'm saying "one cannot EXPECT to do it." Downswings of $5k or greater are the NORM at 2/5...I go through two or three of them annually, and if i wasn't rolled properly, I would find it very difficult to play as well. If you're a winning player and you want to stay that way, you want to have 40-50 buyins at your disposal.

How to know you're playing a MAGWEP: When you value town him and he looks you in the eye and says "I'm going to stack you for that one" despite the fact that he is on his third or fourth bullet and you have 5x as many chips in front of you as he currently has in front of him.

Hahahaha.. So true.. It's hilarious how angry they get and how they seek immediate revenge.. The truth is a MAGWEP has felt his whole life he has something to prove. Therefore when he tries so hard, you almost want him to win a pot just so u can watch his antics and false sense of confidence return temporarily,

Spoiler:
before he inevitably punts it away again
