I recently went back to the Commerce Casino after being away since the beginning of covid. I was saddened to see that the entire top section (the high limit section) has been converted to California games. I used to consider the Commerce to be my home casino, someplace I would be excited to go to. But now it doesn’t feel special anymore, just another card room to play in. RIP Commerce Top Section.

I assume they still spread those games, but just in the main room.

I haven’t been in a few years, but I agree that is shitty. It makes it more likely I go to hustler to play MSLHE in the future.

I feel like it makes the 20 game break way faster too because there will be one table of 20 and 9 tables of 8/16, and it’s so easy for a player running bad to just get up and go to 8/16.

the high limit games have been deteriorating there for a long time... It's sad to think about the days where they had like 10 10/20+ NL tables and plo action but at the same I am happy that places that treat their customers worse then their competition especially for high limit games have their games move elsewhere.

Are you talking about the section just past the bar and not the upstairs tourney area?

Yeah, the entire casino floor you would see when walking in the front doors. I would guess it was about 35% of the entire space dedicated to poker before.

Did the majority of games move somewhere else or was it more like at Bellagio where the high stakes section died because the demand for 25/50+ decreased significantly?

Been a while since I’ve been familiar with la poker tbh. A lot went to the gardens like the 200/400 mix game the 20/40 nlhe and for a time a 20/40 plo but that died I think. A lot of people played a 5/10 nlhe that played a little bigger then a normal 5/10 for la at hollywood park but that game died I think and now if u want big action it’s all home games or a infrequent (not daily) game and I think the garden games still goes daily but ya like Bellagio and borgata the days of daily non private 25/50+ at casinos is gone I believe.

During lapc commerce still gets consistent games though.

OK, that may be true, but it was still the best high limit card room in L.A.
