One thing I don't think I saw anyone mention as a reason for not wanting to get a players card.

The guy might be an AP who normally counts card or does whatever form of AP play. The casino might be watching him praying he turns over an ID.

Or the opposite could happen, someone might not want the casino to know who they are because they are planning on doing some form of AP in the future.

Income via the Feds can be reduced and/or affected by 'additional' income. For Social Security the threshold has been increased in the last few years and is waived at 70. (On a side note, I believe you can receive a reduced benefit starting at 59 1/2, but it could be 62, but the 'full' retirement age is slowly being raised depending on when you were born.)

My Mo-in-law turns 62 this month and is taking the reduced benefit instead of waiting for 65 to roll around. Now she can find a better working situation and with the increased (or eliminated) ceiling for reduced benefits she can work less and yet maintain her current income level. It also opens up the door for someone else to get that full time job.

Previously if you were pulling in SS and made more than $12,500 they reduced your benefit (for whatever reason) by $0.50 for every $1 above. This created a whole new market of workers (Walmart Greeters) who didn't want to work full time but still wanted to get out there a bit. It also create a huge issue at tax time since SS doesn't know how much your working until you file your return and some folks didn't realize they would be paying in.

.... With facial recognition software security doesn't have to wait for someone to hand over their ID to deal with a banning or trespass issue. Some casinos are more adamant about it than others. You can certainly bet that those folks will receive zero promo $$ if they happen to be involved in even a HH. Our casino now has to verify that an ID is current before they pay anything out. GL

I'm sure anyone on 'Disability' would be affected somehow in the short term, but I don't think true Social Security would be 'harmed'. GL
A couple of years ago in NJ they uncovered a scam where people would sell winning lottery tickets to a convenience store (25-30 cents on dollar iirc). Someone notices that the store owner and relatives cashed in a ridiculous amount of winners. Thought it was first a scam directly of somehow pulling out scratch off winning tickets somehow, but it turned out the winners just wanted cash off the books due to the typical list of unpaid taxes, child support, Fines, and other garnishments.
