Refund on gambling tax in the USA for UK resident

Hey I'm a poker player visiting the states and played a poker tournament in Maryland live casino. I cashed for 5500 profit and they withheld 30% tax.
So the last time I came and played in the states was 5 years ago in the wsop in Vegas. Since the UK and USA have a gambling treaty they never withheld the 30% tax and gave full amount .
So anyways after telling them about this they took 30 mind trying to figure it out because none of the poker staff there had heard about this . And in the end gave me me 3 forms and said I can collect my 30% from the airport when I fly out.
Can someone confirm if this is correct .
