Bad news, unexpected trip to NW Indiana Chicagoland Tuesday or Wednesday for a week. Good news, could have some quality time to play cards. I like NL ~1000 max or lower, low limit, or ... stud/8? Don't care too much for tourneys. Would like to check out a few different places if I can.

Got a good little dog visiting (Guess her name?), and just need a place to sleep, you know safe, clean, Motel 6, whatever. I will have a car. However, would prefer a place near a shuttle pickup, so I can cocktail.

Or, do any of the casinos have dog friendly hotels? And if so, which one has the best players rate / comps/ promos to keep the costs down?

Thanks, folks !

NW Indiana gives you a few good options for Casinos. The Horseshoe in Hammond is by far the nicest, but it has no hotel attached. The Majestic Star does have a hotel on the property. I have never stayed in the hotel so i cant say much about it. I have heard that Ameristar is nice, and has a hotel. I have never been there so i can not comment.

All of the above have alot of action in the poker rooms, I did hear a rumor that Ameristar may have closed the poker room but i am not 100% on this.

The Blue Chip in Michigan city is also a very nice casino, with a small poker room. Usually only 2-3 tables play 1-2nl and sometimes 1-2 NLO on the weekdays. 2-5 runs on weekends. This is a very nice casino with a nice hotel onsite.

As for the dogs, Id say call around and ask.

extended stay america is pet friendly, and have locations all over the place. its definitely not the wynn, but usually clean and habitable when theres no ricin in the room.

marriotts are catch as catch can w/ pets... maybe give a close by marriot a call and talk to the manager.

The Quality Inn is about a five minute ride to the Horseshoe. If you want to try another poker room Majestic Star is fifteen minutes away. Once you see the Horseshoe’s poker room you may not want to leave for another poker room.

This is general advice about traveling with dogs, not about NW Indiana specifically.

My wife competes all over the country on the USDAA dog agility circuit. She typically stays at a Red Roof Inn, which are dog friendly.

Their stated limit is "one well-behaved family pet," but she always travels with multiple dogs and has never been hassled.

Wow,

We didn't get a hotel room, so I can't give a review. But it brought a smile to my face and a little tear to my eye to see my thread bumped.

If you recognize my avatar, you won't be surprised to learn that my little dog (a dachshund) is named "Nittany."

The bad news... I'll clarify years later... was that it was time to send The Missile onwards.

Cinnamon Stick @ Lake Michigan; Labor Day, 2009

Seventeen years ago today, a pure-bred Boston Terrier puppy, with almost perfect markings, was born in a TN breeding kennel. They named her 'Cinnamon Stick' after her very beautiful and very rich brown coat.

A few weeks later she was shipped off, for well into four figure$$$$, to a wealthy man in LA's San Fernando Valley. Less than a year later, he relinquished the completely wild little doggy to the local Boston Rescue. He said an older female dog was "beating the puppy up".

That chillingly sad little note is all we'll ever know about Cinnamon's puppy-hood. Of course, we know even less about Sabo's (the new dog) puppy-hood.

What we do know is that she turned out OK. She later earned the title, and became known as, 'The Missile'. In her own way, she was an extraordinary dog, and famously popular. More important... She was a good little dog.

Seven years ago today... yikes can it have been that long... we sent The Missile onwards. Even though I have Sabo now, I still shed a tear for my little Missile... she was a good little dog. Excuse me a bit. Sabo come here! Oh, that's a good Sabo. [Snuggle] Gotta that Sabo... he's a good guy. OK, where were we. Oh yeah, a little more than a year later the long gone fun160 bumped my thread. I replied...

About two and a half years ago, I bumped the thread to complete the story... that the time had come, and the purpose of my Indiana trip was to send The Missile onward...

What I forgot to do was point out that there's plenty more to read about The Missile's live & times, and lots of pix that actually work, over in my dog blog: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/22...-sabo-1420473/
