Hey all,

I implemented a small hobby project, a smartwatch app generating random numbers during live poker play in the casino. Of course it might be also useful playing online poker.

At this moment the app is available for the following Fitbit devices:
Ionic, Versa, Versa Lite, Versa 2, Versa 3 und Fitbit Sense

If there is interest I may extend support for more devices in the future.

Following the link for the Fitbit Appstore:
Fitbit Appstore Link

The display of the watch keeps on the whole time during the app usage. Therefore no manual interaction is required while playing Live poker hands. Should be no issues at all, because it only takes one blink to the display to get a new random number and should be completely legal to use.

Currently, the app is free, which means it has 365 free days of trial period set.

Following default settings on startup:
  • One random number in each corner of the display
  • The symbols are just for decoration
  • New random numbers are generated each 5 seconds
  • Random numbers are generated between 0-99

Also I implemented the following configurable settings (in Fitbit app settings on the phone):
  • RNG Interval (1-60s)
  • RNG Min Value (0-1)
  • RNG Max Value (99-100)

I would appreciate any feedback

My only suggestion is to add 1 to the generated number so that the user does not need to do the extra step in his head. As it is, the numbers 0–24 represent the bottom 25% while the number 99 represents 100%.

My real response is not a choice. Redundant and unnecessary. My watch already gives me random numbers on infrequent times I need such playing live. At best this would seem to encourage more mechanical play. For full ring low stakes this is IMO ev-

While I understand that simple generation of a random number is pretty benign, this seems like something that a nitty player and floor could use to get an opponents hand ruled dead. I am pretty sure using a computerized device to help you make poker decisions would be frowned upon by most rooms.

mod: I've updated the first post.

Note that previously we have not allowed users to post promotional links to their own apps or content, so a post like this would have been deleted.

While officially the rules in CCP have not yet changed, the new site owners have shown a willingness to allow for self promotion in other parts of the site, and this content seems relatively benign (as in, not scammy - I have no position on the issue brought up by the last poster about whether rooms or opponents will appreciate or allow this kind of app) so as an experiment I am allowing it for the time being.

Please do understand if the winds change and it ends up deleted in the future, however.

I know and saw some players using their own dice or coin to make decisions. And some players use the second count of a near tournament clock. It is basically the same, but I understand that it might cause irritation.

I understand benefits of mixing in theory but I don't see the point in practice. I've never felt the need to do consciously. There is only ever one best option in practice and IMO it's better to try to play that than have balanced ranges in every spot by manipulating frequencies of individual combos.

You will underbluff hardly in many spots, example:
4card flush board and villain bets river. Almost everybody underbluffs the riverspot and have no bluffraises. Obviously super easy to exploit by folding everything to a river raise in this spot. You can find similar spots where it's hard to find natural bluffs, so your best strategy is to randomize all your non-showdown hands and bluff them like 5% of the time.

Another example is preflop 3betting ranges are way to tight because they require mixing many hands, especially offsuited candidates like KQo.

It goes both ways. If someone can “easily” fold all their bluffcatchers because we are perceived to underbluff then we can just raise all our bluff candidates pure.

Just raising 5% of your bluff candidates isn’t even going to make you balanced anyway. 5% is arbitrary without considering how many value raises you have. There’s no point in mixing unless you have some extraordinary range awareness. It’s only realistic IMO to know precisely what your range is preflop.

Yes, just bluff 100% instead of 5% ... that's super hard to spot and nobody will ever adjust.
