Re: Question for Floors: Why do you guys always make it seem like both parties are at fault?

Anyone confused by why floors do this doesn't have two kids at home.

Or actually cares enough about their kids to figure out what's going on and act accordingly rather than give them the lazy "I don't have time for this, you both shut up" treatment.

No way does Olaff argue needlessly at a poker table. It's just unpossible.

Posts like this is why 2P2 has a **** reputation of a nasty place. Too many miserable losers trying to go ad hominem at any opportunity just so they can feel a little better about themselves. Bet you're a ***** in real life.

I find it hard to separate the man from the argument when the argument is "Why are the innocent always punished when guilt is usually clear and obvious, and authority figures could quickly and easily determine it?"

Yeah I can see how the floor is being terribly unfair when they want both parties to chill.

98% of the time, it is some variation of:

Billy: Ow!
Dad: What's wrong?
Billy: Tommy hit me!
Dad: What were you doing just before Tommy hit you?
Billy: .........

Of couse, everyone always thinks their case falls in the other 2%.

Folks nothing much is going to change. A Floors job is to decide disputes about actions or rules pertaining to the game. Also they are there to eliminate or at least reduce time wasting events and keep the games going smoothly. They are not there to make moral or social decisions about players behavior except in very, very extreme cases.

Re: Question for Floors: Why do you guys always make it seem like both parties are at fault?

Question for floors--Do you ever take a side based on the people even though a completely impartial ruling would be blame both sides?

Had a young guy (30's) who bombed a pot with the obvious nuts and when the other player folded, he was calling him chicken and making chicken noises.... for like 5 minutes. Finally, a third player, who was this quiet nice little old lady who looked to be about 80 suddenly pipes up "Would you just shut the **** up?". The initial ass then tells the dealer to call the floor, nobody can talk to him that way.

Of course, they're not 100% impartial 100% of the time; they're human. As for your example, it demonstrates why it's better to nip abusive behavior in the bud. At some point things will escalate anyway. Wouldn't it be better if the person who folded called the floor after I don't know 2 mins? and complained that the dickhead is bothering him and berating his play? That way there would be one clear guilty side. Now you have the ****ing grandma on the same moral equivalence scale (or worse!) than this dickhead! In similar situations there is hesitation on the part of players to call the floor for perhaps "minor" verbal abuse because there is a largely correct perception that the floor actually don't give a **** about it. Poker rooms are not actually enforcing their own rules when it comes to verbal misbehavior. The rules are there for a reason. To maintain a pleasant, civil environment for the players. It's good business. Most players do not enjoy seeing verbal abuse even if it's not directed towards them. It's bad vibes. Some players even leave tables where this happens. That's why the rules are there. Just ****ing enforce them.

You continue to miss the point. From the get go, you have been accusatory, confrontational, and belligerent in this thread without ever owning it. And this thread is about why floors treat all parties in a dispute as if they are confrontational or belligerent.

My experience is different. Never have I had a floor tell me to cool it when I am not doing anything. I am sure many other posters have had similar experiences.

Maybe it is time to get a little self awareness and think that maybe you are part of the reason why floors come to your table and issue blanket reprimands.

A lot of poker players are very quick witted and very sharp tongued, but I have not found them them to be gratuitously nasty or mean spirited (a few specific subforums notwithstanding). if you are claiming to be personally attacked multiple times in the same thread from multiple posters....maybe 2p2 isn't the issue?

I think an impartial moderator should come to this thread and tell everybody to chill out.

For the record, I didn't feel any better about myself after typing that - I felt pretty good already. Didn't make feel worse, though.

Also, chill out.

Yeah but then OP is just going to create another thread asking why forum moderators give out blanket statements when one party is “completely innocent”

An impartial mod would tell Olaff, and only Olaff, to chill out. This forum has too many miserable loser thread starters trying to feel good about themselves by posting something that they think will get them acclamation for being a thoughtful individual, then react poorly when they don't get the expected results.

OP, you seem furry mad.

Why didn't you tell these nasty 2P2 people you got your panties tangled up and they should stop harassing you. If that doesn't work you can always call for the mods.

Ah,,,,,no. While it is NVG and its relaxation of the norms of civility..... OP doesn't need to continually get pounded for expressing an opinion.

The hostility goes in both directions ITT so chilling out both sides would be a nice change of pace imo.

The potential is there for this to possibly be the best 2+2 troll ever. The irony is at an all time high.

Singlely one person out also greatly increases the chances that one person will go molten.

I love the thought that being asked to chill out counts as you getting ****ed. It’s not like it goes in your permanent record. Can’t think of any specific time I’ve been warned but any time a floor has ever said anything like ‘chill out’ to me, I’m pretty sure it translated roughly in to “Quit egging him on and making my job harder or I going to hit you with a rack someday, dip****.”

Floor can give me as many warnings as he wants if it gets the ******* to be quite in way that doesn’t get him all frothy the mouth and waste an other ten minutes. If you’re not the ******* he’s never going to actually kicked you unless you keep pushing it
