So if I travel into another country to play at a casino and I win, how do I get that money to my card? I understand they usually give the winnings as cash, correct me if I'm wrong.

Usually you get cash, but most casinos will also offer you a check if you prefer.

I'm not sure what "card" you want to put it onto though. Traditionally, you will have to deposit it into a bank account you maintain. You will need to convert it from the foreign currency into your native currency first. Your bank will no doubt be willing to do that, but may charge a significant fee to do so. Or you can do it on your own using a currency conversion storefront (which may or may not have their own significant fees).

'... to my card?' You mean you want to 'credit' a credit card? I'm assuming you took a cash advance to play with, maybe?

There are fees associated with 'all' transactions at the casino, so that money will have cost you a pretty good surcharge just to play with in the first place .. and now you want to pay to have it put back?

I'm not a very good first poster, but I think you will want to find out where the best place to exchange that money into 'your' currency is located ... perhaps either the departing or arriving airport and get it done there. It's possible that you could use Western Union to send the money to a checking account 'back home' but they have fees as well and I don't know if they are equipped to 'exchange and send'.

If it's Visa or MC you may be able to find a Mall/Bank/Kiosk that processes consumer payments and just simply make a payment .. and now you are relying on your credit card company to do the exchange in-house.

I hope you get some better answers than mine .. or perhaps there's a better forum on this site than here.

You will probably be asked, so I will first ... From what $$ to what $$ are you talking about? GL

It's all euros so no exchange needed. It's just that I'd like the money on my card or bank account instead of cash.

I suppose that you can ask for a wire transfer if the amount is significant.

I mean what about all those tournament winners, how do they get the money? Sorry I'm a complete noob.

You will have to check with each venue as to how they handle things. Casinos don't want to be banks .. and in today's world it's a lot easier to receive funds than send them. GL

They way they want to have it. But I haven’t heard of anyone putting it “on a card”.

WSOP for example offers cash, check or wire transfer. Some EPT stops also provide the option of putting the money in your PokerStars account.

What card do you mean?
Debit, credit, prepaid currency...?

I would expect the venue to be able to issue a cheque or bank draft or cash...
Which venue and where is it?

I will be playing a tourney next weekend in euros and I will have a similar issue...hopefully!

I'm from the UK and any significant amount of euros I have left over will probably be in cash so I will probably bring them home and convert here and then into a bank account.
