Firekeepers in Battle Creek, MI 'will' reopen on Saturday May 1st at 9-10 AM. It appears they will offer 13 tables (50% old capacity) and non-plexiglass 6-handed mask-required action .. with a BBJ of over $100k active (which means room-share is activated, AAAJJ losing).

This will be the first tribal casino poker in MI, while the 3 'public' casinos in Detroit have offered poker for some time now. No tournaments yet, but this definitely was the place to play tournament poker in MI before CV. GL

Looks like Palace Poker finally has poker again! Very cool!

(Also, I’m hoping poker tournaments come back to the Bay Area sooner rather than later - fingers crossed)

Ameristar St.Louis has been 8 handed for a few weeks, and today announced 9 handed and masks are “optional” for those vaccinated, though they’re not asking for proof...
Masks still mandatory for employees

Interesting

They don't ask for proof, but judging from the poker room and overall casino... about 85% of the state must be vaccinated.
Which it isn't, but whatever I guess

If you want to know if someone is vaccinated or now, ask them who won the 2020 Presidential election...

Blue Heron in Port Perry, ON might be able to to begin preparing reopening at the end of July, depending on vaccination rates. I'm assuming there will be retraining & new safety protocols, and table games/poker might be delayed. I also think there will be limited capacity (perhaps pre-booking your visit).

Is the Wynn Boston poker room really closed for the balance of 2021 and if so, what is the story there?

I'll take a shot at trying to answer...

Encore Boston, will decide between now & Dec 31. No decision for or against has been made. They reserve the right to say ok or no more. Same with MGM Springfield.

Prior to Massachusetts just finally reopening 100% without restrictions for vaccinated, Mass Gaming had Poker only allowed to play 4 Max and both Massachusetts casinos chose not to offer poker at the time and reallocate the spaces to more slots. They said it wasn't profitable for them to offer it in a 4 Max setting. Now they No longer have those restrictions from Mass Gaming Commission and is on them, as casinos to offer or not.

They would need time to rehire people, retrain, revamp the poker areas that have been repurposed, if they even bring it back. They will decide whenever the heck the feel like it or by Dec 31, so no guess.

So the speculation goes on and on...plan on it not being there and if it is, great and if not. No surprise. Post any public cardroom reopenings here (updated list in first post)

Bike and Commerce both took down plexiglass and got rid of their mask mandate. Pretty sweet.

but the entire time commerce had games outside, they stopped the 20-40 stud games and the PLO games, all they offered were holdem. has this changed now that theyre indoors again?

Looks like they are spreading it but it’s not going. Mid stakes PLO is going though (500-1500, probably 5-10)

I think all the rooms have been open for some time. I can definitely say so for Chasers and BBCC. I don't think there are any restrictions at this point.... BBCC had masks a bit longer due to City of Nashua restrictions but I think those are all gone now.

This is not a re-opening specifically but Foxwoods just started NL Tournaments up again after a year and a half hiatus.

They are doing them on Wednesdays only from 4:15 until 12:45am (because they are closing the room at 1am). All players left get an equity chop devised by FW.

Here are some things to note:
1) Get there at least 3 hours early in order to start. Only the first 200 entrants get a seat at 4:15pm. Everyone else is an alternate (you pay only when you get notified you are in). I got there at 4:30pm (15 minutes late) and had to wait about an hour to get seated. I was the 38th alternate and they had already seated 7 or so alternates.

2) People who are in the tournament and rebuy do not have to be an alternate. Not only do they get to re-enter the tourney without having to be an alternate (something I have never seen anywhere else - except on re-entry tournies where you keep your seat and don't pay additional rake) but if there is a line of alternates at the cage the rebuy player gets to cut in line there as well.

3) They say they are limited to 20 tables - which seems to be true at the start of the tournaments. However when dealers opened up (cash games broke or new dealers showed up) they did open new tournament tables. But because they had only one cashier it took about ten minutes to buy in for some of us, even after we had made it in.

4) Its a $280 tourney with 30,000 chips to start and 25 minute levels.

5) Masks are mandatory if you have not been vaccinated. But they don't check. So basically very few people were wearing masks. This reminded me of Las Vegas in July 2021. I say this as a warning to people who can't be vaccinated for medical reasons. For those unvaccinated who choose the risk that is obviously your own business but just be aware that vaccinated people can get Covid now (much of the time asympomatically) and spread it as easily as the unvaccinated.

6) The last scheduled tournament is the end of September. At which point I'm guessing they will reassess. They are thinking of expanding to Sunday tournaments.

7) I didn't recognize most of the dealers. This is particularly sad because the dealers over the last few years at FW were terrific, friendly and loved dealing tournaments. Many of them didn't deal cash games because they liked tournaments better. I'm guessing this is why FW is starting slowly because it has to be hard to get back the number of dealers they would need to run daily tournies. Not to mention their Mega stacks series. But given that none of the other major players on the northern east coast are running tournies, at least this is a start.

Talking Stick is back to masks, 7-handed with plexiglass, in case anyone is tracking this still.

Wow! Was the plexi removed at some point and now reinstalled, or has it been there the whole time???

Removed and re-installed, but without the social distancing requirement (every table in use). So, still limited capacity. They were still running tournaments, but I didn't see how many were seated at the tables.
