I totally agree that it’s a very unfortunate situation for OP and not the customer experience he and other players deserve. OTOH, he’s not getting into that specific game at the start anyway if they have 9+ players. If the card room doesn’t honor the request to start a new table for that group of players, they’ll look for a different room that does. If they can’t find one, they’ll probably have the game in a non-casino setting. That’s where the vast majority of high stakes games are these days.
There is no such thing as a private or semi private game at my room. High stakes player, low stakes player - you put your name on a list if you want to start or get into an existing game. Are there groups of players who show up together and want to start a specific game - of course (happens mostly with 40-80 mix). If someone is already on the list for that game then guess what - they get a seat if/when the game starts. That is how every poker room is supposed to / should function. If a group of guys show up and they don’t want to start a game with the list that is already there, they are welcome to start a new list / game (eg, sometimes they will start 50/100 mix which goes much more rarely). But under no circumstances should the poker room management just push people down on the list. And if they want to “86” me for complaining about that, it is their prerogative but again the room would have to be run UNBELIEVABLY badly for me to buy that they would do either of these things. So badly in fact that I doubt I would want to play high stakes in a room with that incompetent of management

I equate hit and running to a nit folding everything, then limp raising a premium heavy, doubling up and then leaving right after. All the other stuff usually ain’t hit and run

Ya that sounds like Tampa. Lot of people wouldn't play at HR because they couldn't do stuff like this in the past but they just went to lucky's/TGT/home games. I mean I think you know how to handle the situation it's more about getting your name on the list then trying to end private games in an area where pretty much all the high stakes plo action is private.

TBF they do seem to give more of a chance to new players playing in those games then most places so if you get in the game when a player gets busted and give action/friendly probably can ask for invites in the future.

I am friendly and fun in the games, I don't win a huge pot and then rack up and leave. But I also don't play 12+ hour sessions either.

I am a tighter winning player. I try to keep pots small and pull others into them, keep them multiway, as it increases the likelihood someone will make 2nd best and pay off, and makes it harder for the other pros in the game to run bluffs facing 4-5 opponents.

I rarely raise preflop unless I can get stacks in or create such a low SPR that my post-flop decision is already decided.

I'm pretty good at hero calling as well, picked off a bluffer in the game a few weeks ago.

Flop 986 and I check-call a $100 bet by a known bluffer when we're 4-handed (I have the nfd)

Just him and I to the turn 3

We both check. River 4 and he comes out firing pot of $325. It just doesn't add up. If he had the straight on the flop he's going to continue firing the turn, but he didn't, he checked the turn.

And on the river I have check-called the flop bet, then checked both the turn and river. I have given zero indication I'm capable of calling a pot-sized bet, and the river card didn't change the texture of the board in any meaningful way to match up with what the bettor is trying to represent.

So I know he never has the nuts after checking back the turn. On the river, if he has any showdown value at all, why is he betting into someone who doesn't look like they can call such a large bet?

I turn to him and say "do you even have a pair? You got JT and missed your draw?" and eventually call with A3xx for bottom pair, top kicker, and it's good lol.

No, hit and running is weak regardless of VPIP or how you won the pot. You double up or more, one of the most fun possibilities of the game. Now all of a sudden you were only gonna play a 45 minute session?

No bankroll excuses. You just won money. Your financial situation got better. You don't recalculate after every pot.

Ya that's not what people mean when they say give action... I imagine you understand that but you seem to try to be justifying yourself as giving action with your example so I will clarify.

I mean the way I see it is if people are straddling/flipping/playing from the backside/like playing big pots/raising a lot etc and it's private you either play like that enough that you fit in or you chose not to play. It's kinda like playing a game and not wanting to play the blinds its just part of the game.

Obviously you might disagree but the reality is the type of player you described is not who you would prefer to play with over the one I described so it is probably going to be difficult for you to find bigger plo action in tampa.

I know a Player who moved to FL and ran into the same issue with 'the game' .. now I believe he's 'earned' his spot on the starting list.

It's not uncommon for a casino to have a 'game of the day' and the Players who start the game have first option at the top of the list for the following week. While I'm assuming this is not exactly that scenario, it's pretty close.

The Player I knew would actually show up at Midnight to 'start' the list .. and then end up staying thru the night in an effort to get into the starting line up. While it appears that's not an option anymore you'll have to figure out how to break into the lineup.

Hit and Running can have slightly different definitions for sure, but most commonly is leaving 'shortly' after a big win. Lots of Players play differently once they're deep stacked .. but that's more commonly known as 'lock down' not HnR.

FL is well known for grouchy OMC type of Players who are looking for anything to complain about. They don't like 'snipers' sitting down at the table who may not put the chips back into the game .. so they create a list where the starting lineup wont have to deal with an 'outsider' well into the list.
