Line up is great, good to see a really sick upcoming guy like Will in there,

he's pretty good and has done amazingly in ept's and won the high roller at the pca this year, not forget to mention he's a super nice guy who always smiles

there was one guy in last weeks thread that pointed out the additional disadvantage for the cannon because of the fact that he is sitting on just one 100k bullet while the pros always have the opportunity to buy in for more and reload, i think this is an interesting point and i would like to see more people discussing this issue.

so far it seems like the big game is really a hard task for the amateurs, iirc russ, wiggins and nadia were the only ones so far to show a profit at the end of the first week.

wouldnt it put the cannon in a more favourable situation if you let him start with double the amount that the pros start with, for example 200k while the pros start with 100k each, and to abolish the opportunity to reload, still letting the cannon keep his profits?

maybe that would keep the pros from bullying the cannon so much and even the odds a little bit.

any thoughts?

I'm digging these PS.net games a lot more that we have Russ and now Elizabeth sharing their thoughts/etc. Brings a welcome new addition to watching poker on TV, imo, thanks in advance to Elizabeth for posting here as the week progresses!

The logic behind it would be too much to explain on the show to the average tv watcher or a recreational poker player, It is easier for the cannon to start with the minimum.

Will was great. Super friendly and sharp kid. Considering he's only 21 and this was the first time he's played at stakes this high he really handled it like a pro. Watch for Will in the future because I predict you're definitely going to be seeing more of him.

This is interesting, the LC really has to run like god to have a shot. Its like the short stackers at any NL game, Kind of shove or fold, I think they should give him 100K to start and if he drops to 40K he can get up to his original bi back. Or maybe he can have an extra 100 whenever he needs it. But your right the LC is always going to be at a massive disadvantage.

Small sample size, but it is a noticeable trend. The other players to be up 100k are Vanessa, Mercier and Ike.

Useless stat: Of the 13 players that have an aggregate loss, Daniel has lost the least on average per appearance (~$37k).

these stats are definitely interesting stuff.

if you keep track of this anyway, could you keep us updated like once a week or so?

maybe we could even get an own thread going for the stats?

Some interesting weeks of poker ahead for sure. This coming one with Elizabeth is action packed to say the least. There is also a "sick" lineup at the end of the season where Galfond will appear, and he also has direct position on me so I should rate to lose about $450,000 or so on that episode.

I'm looking forward to watching it, but i still don't have FOX because of the stupid FOX/Cablevision feud.

I've enjoyed the format of the big game, Stapleton is providing good analysis in my opinion. I'd wish they'd start putting in some better loose cannons, seems like 50 percent are complete terribles (wiggins, capello, howard), and the others are decent. Would be cool though if they found the best skilled amateurs and gave them a chance though.

Lineup hasn't been the best in my opinion. Seems like it's lacking a bit without any of the big full tilt cash game players. Watching Daniel has been painful the last few weeks, seems to be focusing on entertaining people instead of seriously playing. Mercier and Bonomo have been playing well. Interesting to watch Helmuth play more aggressive but still pretty fail.

oh wells

We are kindred spirits then because I am a total stats geek as well and I appreciate you doing this. Eventually, I think the site will track long running totals so you'll see some more meaningful stats and trends.

I checkout the site after every episode of the show and it updates throughout the week: http://thebiggame.pokerstars.net/statistics/

You end up seeing some interesting trends for sure. Barry, for example beat Todd Brunson's all-time low VPIP for a week by a wide margin. I think Todd was at 21% and Barry ended at 14%.

Each week of the ones they've posted I'm usually in the middle to high end of the pack at around 31%.

Prior to my "Let's take a bath week" I was up pretty good and I'll appear in two more weeks that we filmed, one of which starts tomorrow night.

I know the sample size isnt all that big but does anyone notice a pattern here? All the "old timers" are the biggest losers while the "young guns" besides barry seem to be crushing it. No surprise here

Of the trends revealed (most inconsequential to date) why do you feel this is worth mentioning? Do you consider yourself a Poker Player foremost or do you admit that your role as PS ambassador / TV Celebrity has taken precedence?
I would be interested to see your winrate over a decent samplesize with a VPIP of 31%

I think Brunson should be praised for refusing to let "TV EV" affect his play. I wouldn't like to see him (or anybody) each week but I feel he has been unfairly treated here, mostly by droolers.
Barry G is just the nuts ldo, he can play as many hands as he wants.
