I just sent the following DM on Twitter to PokerGo.
I'm not holding my breath though...

Quote:
'Are you going to send out a message explaining the lack of 50k coverage? Not to mention the high number of 'dark' days throughout the series? I think your subscribers deserve an explanation. Just telling people you appreciate feedback means nothing if you don't reply to the feedback. Thanks.'

Wonder if there's a chance they might put together a last minute stream of the mixed game high roller? Haven't cancelled my subscription yet, just in case there's a chance PokerGo might change their mind?

(probably not? )

Sometimes the mixed games can be interesting to watch, because they can be a chance to learn about new games - maybe PokerGo would get some new sign ups like they did with the SHRB, with so many big names playing?

It's not surprising that they would have hiccups but the multitude and severity of issues that have arisen tell me that this is something more systemic of a very poorly run company. They could improve their product a lot next year and still provide a very poor experience. The WSOP better be making a ton of money off of PokerGo because the WSOP's brand has definitely been tarnished. If they had put their product on Twitch they could have exposed their product to a lot of new customers, grown their brand, and made a good chunk of change in the process.

+1. WSOP coverage being featured on the front page of Twitch would be really valuable.

I just did it, not a hassle at all. A simple phone call, had almost no wait time, the service rep was cordial and professional. It helps that I'm in the same time zone, though. If I were halfway around the world, making this phone call might require doing so at an inconvenient time of day.

And since the subscription still covers you through the end of July, you'll still get the ME. Thus, you don't have to wait.

It's funny, I didn't hate this service as much as others in this thread – in fact, I enjoyed what little I did watch. So in that regard, I definitely feel like I got my $10/month worth. Kind of a glass half-full take, I suppose. Is it as good as what we got for free in recent years? Of course not. However, it's clear that providing a free stream is no longer a viable option for the WSOP. Thus, our choice becomes an inexpensive subscription service vs. no coverage at all. I got as much entertainment value in the last two months as I did from my Netflix account, which costs the same.

All this said, I can't agree more with the thread's overall disappointment about not showing the big non-NLHE events, especially the $50K PPC. Probably won't subscribe to this next year unless they fix that. Without those events, I simply didn't have enough interest in watching to warrant what was admittedly a nominal fee. Yes, that's the glass half-empty side, but it will govern at least this poster's decision going forward.

Excellent post WT. I couldn't agree more, apart from I'm sure I'll sub again next year regardless.

Makes sense. I am personally looking forward to the ME coverage as it'll be interesting to watch deepstack play as opposed to the shove fests that final tables can sometimes become

The content they provided was worth $10/month for the 2 months, but that isn't the issue. The real problem is as much the fault of the WSOP as PokerGO. There are lots of people who wanted to watch all of the final tables, and were ready and willing to pay what the market would bear to do so. For whatever reason, most of the final tables (and virtually all of the best final tables) were not streamed - not available for purchase at any price. That's what people are bitching about. Nobody cares about the $10 - we care about seeing the games.

Clearly there were things could have been better, that can be written off and attributed to it being their first year streaming (no mics on players, early cutoffs on streams, badly designed website and cancellation process) - but that's quibbling over minutiae.

I signed up for the $10/month, and it was worth it, and I'd probably sign up again next year even if the coverage was just as bad - but I'd much rather subscribe to a service that showed all the FTs. The WSOP is certainly doing itself and its brand no favors by blacking out the most interesting parts of the series.

Easy and quick enough, but it should have the option online
cmon man. if we all gave Lon negative reviews, we could have got him out of there

I'm going to call today to cancel my sub and tell the person on the phone it'd be great if they could stream the 50k tomorrow and that i will definitely be back next year if they commit to stream more events specifically the 10ks.

Apparently they refuse to address the whole 50k thing, complete silence LOL.

Imagine if Dnegs ships the 50k, the pokergo producers are gonna be kicking themselves.

I don't see this as a valid comparison at all. Netflix provides thousands of shows (many originally produced) 24/7 for the same price. (Yes, of course, they have subscription volume to keep the costs lower) A more valid comparison would be if Netflix only provided one type of show out of many genres for a few hours per night and only 3-4 nights per week.

cant believe there is no coverage of the 50k ppc! How do you cover 1k events and not the most prestigious event of the series? SAD.

How the the hell does the WSOP let this happen, so disappointed in them for letting another company take their brand and **** on it.

In the end, there are hurting the growth of their product & brand and the fallout will be felt as early as next year, as poker fans around the world are going to less engaged in the series than ever before.

Not to mention the players (pros) who play in many events must not be happy as well.

Huge fail not covering the PPC, would love to watch it. Again, i feel dumb for subscribing for a year. Pokergo, if you read this - i will not be renewing after the year is over.

lol

not that this will make anyone here happy but I was listening to Remko's podcast and IIRC, they said they're not doing the mixed games because the software that reads/displays the cards isn't set up to work with how often the game being played changes

I'm sure someone will chime in if I misunderstood

That's even worse, because I'm sure that virtually everyone would be fine with them just setting up a webcam and pointing it at the table with the table chatter caught on a mic.
