Hi guys,

I did an online search for cardrooms and found:

Casino de Marrakech & Hotel Es Saadi in Marrakesh
Casino le Mirage in Agadir
Le Grand Casino La Mamounia in Marrakesh
Mövenpick Hotel & Casino Malabata in Tangier
Shem's Casino d'Agadir in Agadir

Any info on any of these places would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to play some small stakes NLHE if possible.

Thanks,
BigStack

Marrakesh is beautiful. I love it there. Be careful about the water. The better hotels will chlorinate it themselves, the hostels, not likely.

Can't offer advice on the casino or cardrooms, though.

Most of the cash games in Morocco are limit games. While the players in Morocco are getting better, the games are, for the most part a crapshoot, and there is a LOT of action.

The best cash games are in Marrakesch. There will also be a WPT event there in September. The hotels/casinos are very nice, and are very generous giving free hotel/food for cash players.

The nicest hotel/casino is the Movenpick In Tangier. It is a 5-star resort on the water and is beautiful. I have spent many months there at a time.

I am intrested in playing poker in Marrakesch.

Is it possible to find a No Limit Holdem poker game that is running every day? If so how high limit and what is the rake?

Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Stumbled on this thread as i've been trying to find some good games / tournaments here in Morocco for quite a while.

Have been here for two years on and off. I've tried and tried to play low-stakes poker in Morocco to no avail. I live in Casablanca which is not a tourist city so there are no casinos. Apparently there are clandestine games that go on here, but you have to be in the know.

Headed down to Marrakech last year hoping to find a lively poker scene at Hotel Es Saadi. What a joke. Call the place a casino? It's just a dump full of slot machines. Arrived in the place at 8 pm in the evening and spoke to the brush. He explained that there was just one table of poker! The game started at 10 pm or 11 pm and was structured as a 5 euro / 10 euro table. Not sure what the rake was, I didn't stick around.

Have recently tried to organize a trip to Agadir. There are tournaments happening there this weekend from 25 to 29 June and apparently there will be cash tables at 2,4, 5,5, 5,10 and 10,20 and 20,40 levels (this is what I read in the email but whether that's what happens is another story). If you're interested you can email this guy in France benlambert@club-internet.fr as far as I recall he has a blog in French on the interweb and has bene playing for quite a while.

As for Tanger, I would love to get some information about the Movenpick / Casino Malabata. Would you believe when you call them on the phone, they refuse to give you information about the game structure? I've never come across a Casino that was so dumb or arrogant. It's got something to do with the culture here where gambling is against people's religion (hichouma). So they refuse to give you information about the games. I was told I had to turn up at the Casino to find out... Like.. Thanks!

So, if anyone has information to share about Tanger I'd love to hear more.

One thing I learned was that the Movenpick is organizing a tournament on July 3 and 4. If you ring them they will give you the tournament director's number.

Otherwise, apparently a new Casino will open in El Jalidida (near Casablanca) as from October.

So that's all I know about the poker scene in Morocco. When I came here originally I'd hoped to play a lot more live poker but haven't had a single opportunity.

Bumpski

I am going to be in the south of France for a bit and am considering sticking around a few extra weeks if there is nl action in Monte Carlo (or anywhere in the vicinity.) I am looking for primarily 5-10nl or the euro equivalent. I would, however, play as high as 10-25 and could settle for lower stakes although I probably wouldnt stick around as long. In addition to game offerings I would love to know rake/time payment structure. Thanks in advance for any and all info you guys may have.

Cheers

For southern France.. 5/5 is typical in the nice/cannes area.

The casino in Aix en provence runs 10/10, 20/20 on fridays/saturdays

rake is uncapped 5%, everywhere for 5/5. Maybe 2.5% at 10/10+, not sure.

Games are a bit softer than canada/us from my experience

There is 4 city in Morocco which have Poker Room.

El Jadida you can find "Mazagan Resort" and its casino, Poker room open every day from 9:00pm to 5:00am you find only NL Holdem, generally 5/10 and 10/20. Also tournaments on week ends

Agadir, there is 2 casino: "Atlantic Palace" with 5/10, 10/20 and tournaments.
"Le Mirage" a little casino where you can find 1/2, 2/4 and 5/10.

Tanger and his "Mövenpick Resort" with 5/10, 10/20 and higher.

Marrakesh, my favorite Casino "Essadi" cash game NL holdem, Pot limit Omaha 1/2, 2/5, 5/10, 10/20 and tournament every day.

I am playing the WPT in Marrakech at Es Saadi Gardens & Resort in October and am interested to find out what the cash games will be like?

What NLH stakes will be available, looking for 1/2, 1/3, 2/5 nothing higher really.

What currency are they played in, local or Euros?

Im guessing the action would be half decent but any thoughts welcome.

cheers

2018 Bump:

What's the 2018 Morocco Cash Game Scene like.

1. Which casino has cash games most regularly?

2. What day and time is best? (most games)

3. If at all, which has PLO cash most regularly?

Thank you,

note: would love to meet up and play with any local pros.

Update:

Casino de marrakech (usually) has 4 tables for cashgames. 3 holdem and 1 fivecard PLO. PLO is less certain to run. Stakes is 20/40 and 50/100 for holdem and 50/50 for PLO. Games start about 9 pm. Local dirham is used. The atm inside the building has a withdrawallimit of 2000 dirham (fee on every withdrawal of 25 dirham or so)..

Games seem to be well run and pretty fair. All staff (and most players) is french basically. Rake is higher than in the us but lower than in france.

So basically $4/$8 limit HE, $12/$24 limit HE, and $12/$12 PLO?

Or are the HE games NL?
