I do not understand how he is on and why he is on.

I assume he knows somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody, but why would somebody tell him to go talk about poker when he knows absolutely nothing about poker?

I enjoy watching the WSOP for the Lon/Norman dynamic - it's amusing to me.. sometimes the jokes are a bit lame but he's not trying to be anything but that.

Mike and VVP just seem so cliched to me when I listen/watch them.

Ali/Gabe are great poker commentators because they're not intrusive to the table chat/flow of the game.

Are you kidding? How many times have been watching HSP and there is an interesting conversation going on at the table you can't hear because Gabe won't stfu for more then 2 seconds.

FWIW, I like Sexton as a Poker player / ambassador (etc.) but find the combination of his and VVP's comentary and WPT final table shuvfest utterly unwatchable.

I work with a guy who claims his school mascot was a fighting Sand Crab. I think he just says it to be humorous. I know a Cajun are an ethnic group mainly living in Louisiana, consisting of the descendants of Acadian exiles (French-speaking settlers from Acadia or Nova Scotia, in the maritime provinces of what is now Canada). So Maybe he just picked a Mascot and rolled with it. I think Ive heard him say Demon Deacons as well.

Ragin' Cajuns is the nickname for the athletic teams at the University of Louisiana Lafayette.

Demon Deacons is the nickname for the athletic teams at Wake Forrest University.

The joke is Norm naming some other school and then saying, "I believe they are the Ragin' Cajuns/Demon Deacons...", when in fact no other colleges use these nicknames.

Hopefully this year he'll use Banana Slugs.

As a guy who is 46 and recognizes that he is not as strong a player as "y'all internets 20 yr olds," I think its a good thing for poker to have a schlub who makes people like us, who tell bad jokes and pathetic puns, be the face (or voice) of the game.
