I sometimes have the urge to interrupt the more inept player's stories and interrogate them in the manner of 2+2 reading a poor hand history 'What position? What was your read on him? Why don't you have a read by now? How much did you 3bet to? What makes you think that was a good play? Why are you calling the river after that action?' etc. etc.

IME, displaying any interest whatsoever simply encourages them, and they will then repeat the same story several times more.

Hand stories are a mild problem.

People who feel the need to talk about what they folded (and believe it is truly interesting) are vile and need their kneecaps smacked with a perrier bottle.

Saw a guy wearing a shirt once that said "No one cares what you folded".
I considered finding that shirt on the Interwebs and purchasing 5 of them so that, even on my busiest live poker week, I can always be wearing that shirt whilst playing.

Which means you show interest all the time, right?

To encourage them to focus on their stories instead of the game, and to have them relive their bad beats over and over again in their minds instead of moving on, right?

Or did you actually mean that you want people to stop telling boring ass stupid ass stories and concentrate on the game?
