Its just double the sized game, but you’re all smart and know that
I asked the floor, who at first said “Yeah that’s a mandatory straddle game”. But then after explaining to him and the dealer that it’s then a different game he agreed that they can’t make me straddle.
So now I’m the dick who won’t play their game and ”have fun”, I’m the bad guy because of their dumb rules. I sat down, didn’t straddle, table got pissy and all 8 of them stopped straddling
So a) it wasn't really a mandatory straddle and b) your initial question ITT doesn't apply.
You can simply do exactly what you did. You just don't straddle. This is in no way different than the dealer or table telling you when you come over...hey, just to let you know pretty much everyone is straddling. When you don't others might stop.
Heck it could have been the exact opposite...the MM table may have had a "mandatory" straddle and the main was playing w/o one. Again, maybe you wanted to stay at the MM. But in both cases they are the same game. Just one has a bunch of straddles and the other does not.
tldr: as long as the straddle is not really mandatory, you have to move because they are the same stakes. Even if one is playing twice as big.
