A couple weeks ago I had AA, raised, got 3-bet by sb, I 4-bet, V called. Flop comes Qd-Jh-7d. V checks, I go all in and V snap calls. I show my AA and he snap-shows Kd-Td. My brain breaks and I somehow thought the flop was QJ9 for a flopped straight and the diamond draw also freaked me out even more. I turn my AA back over, thinking I am drawing nearly dead. The board runs out bricks and I toss my Aces towards the muck. I guess I just panicked, thought the 7 was a 9 and was seeing all red suits and just.... ugh.

Everyone just kind of freezes, I look back at the board and realize V has K-high. I say "Wait, did I just muck the winner?" I ask for my hand back, which was on top of the muck. Both V and I ask for a floor, who is pretty confused because who the hell mucks AA against K-high in a $1,000 pot? Floor says if I had my hand tabled at showdown I would win but the timing of when I turned it back over is somewhat unclear to the table consensus. Another player keeps saying I turned it face-down before the river (I did....), but I desperately try to say it was after, dealer isn't really sure and V isnt either. Floor says he can check the camera, V suggests we just chop it up, I pretty quickly agree since I'm pretty sure a camera ruling would go against me. Floor allows the chop.

TL;DR - I mucked a $1,000 winner but lucked out with getting half back as a chop. Hero goes home 3 hands and 15 muck jokes later simultaneously tilted and relieved. Equity on the flop was about 50/50 soooooo I guess I got my equity?

actually you didnt get equity, its more like the hand never happened at all. still yeah, i let the dealer muck or not muck my cards once i flip em then i cannot make an error, only the dealer can. so i get paid 100%

Obviously, but you leave me and my rationalization alone! Thought of a couple more... glad this thread got bumped, there are some golden stories!

Back in high school playing a home game sit-n-go in a friend's basement, I threw a mini tantrum after busting out. There was a big inflatable ball like you see in gyms for stretching, so I rage-punted it into the wall, only to have it come directly back into my face. That went well.

Another time in a poker club... sometimes I sit at the table with one leg / foot tucked under me, especially if there's not much space on either side of me. Anyway, I sat on my foot for too long so that my foot fell asleep. When I tried to get up to walk around I sprained the f--- out of my ankle and proceeded to curse and hop around like an idiot. The other players were mildly sympathetic, but poker injuries ftw!

Oh well.
Jeez, I can't even make a straight flush and you all are mucking them!

Mine is playing at the bellagio in 2005ish. I try and bluff a guy I was friendly with all night (I'm drunk and killing it but pissing everybody off at the table). Double paired board and I have ace high but I there 3 barrels at it and I'm talking big ones (we were both at least 800$ deep, I had more) and he calls me down after tanking the river. I wait to see if he will show but say "damn dude you got me" I kinda drop my cards in front of me. The dealer who's pissed at my antics too instantly grabs them despite me not really mucking and does indeed muck them.

He says "really? I just have A high."I'm like I did too. Dealer they are right on top. It was ace jack. Nope, won't retrieve them. I'm dumbfounded. He was such a nice guy and we had chatted for several hours he actually agreed to split the pot with me after floor guy ruled against me. Nicest gesture I've ever seen at the table. Except maybe a girl who asked if I wanted to go up to her room...but id take the 800 all day.

Most embarrassing thing playing - not much, actually. I played a hand with A-10 and proudly turned over the nuts at showdown on a KQJXX board only to realize that I didn't have A-10 at all. Nowhere near it, actually.

Dealing, I left the box one time when a new dealer came to relieve me. Made it all the way to the supervisor's podium before I realized that I'd left the table unoccupied. The chips in the well and the deck of cards were just sitting there, unprotected, with 9 bewildered players looking on. (I earned a nice write-up for that one, too).

And in a tournament I've collected the antes and then dealt out a flop, all without ever pitching any hole cards to the players.

I folded i think AQ on Ax88x board. Decent size pot - maybe 50-60bb total I dont remember exactly and I was aggressor the entire time. On the river villain calls my bet and says two pair. I assume he had paired a junky A. I look at my cards up high in the air and in disgust throw them down and toward the muck. As I'm doing that, he then flipped over something like A4 and my neighbor announces i mucked the best hand. too late, hands over, everyone is laughing and I am feeling like an idiot.

That last one is not terribly uncommon. if I am first to act, I will usually declare all-in to see if the dealer catches on.

Had pocket tens, hit my set on the flop. Hand plays through and the flush gets there. On the river buddy bets into me and i announce to the table how im about to make a insane fold. Another player replies afterwards saying "you have to show the fold if your are."
I muck my TT face up and thinking im a boss but get no reaction from the table.
The player im in the pot with speaks up after about 5 seconds saying "Full house?, i cant beat that." Knowing damn well i put him on his flush. Dealer mucks my cards and bow my head in shame thinking how could i of missed the paired board.
