I embarrassed myself pretty badly yesterday. 4/8 limit, I raise AdJs in middle position, one caller, and nit 3 bets, we both call. Flop comes all low and all red (I thought all diamonds), I bet out, caller raises, nit is so confused and just calls.

I then realize only two hearts are on the board, but back into the nut flush to scoop it. Nit was holding KK with the king of diamonds. Wasn't too proud to win that pot.

Horrendous play, for sure

So I bust him once, and he rebuys to $300.

I bust him again, and he pulls out a purple $500 chip and looks to me to color him down. I do. So now I have a purple chip in my stack - not that usual in 1/3 game, right? Cool.

He wins some hands and he grows his stack to around $500. But I bust him again.

This time, he pulls out a yellow $1k chip, and I oblige him by giving him back his purple plus $500 in red.

I've never had a 1k chip in my stack before, so I'm kinda stoked. I've got about $1800 total, so I place the yellow on top of my stack.

But I have to go to the bathroom, so I place the yellow underneath some red chips in the front of my stack, furthest from the rail. Don't want to give anyone walking by an easy grab, right?

After I come back, I leave my yellow in front of my stack, so everyone can see it, but - and this is the important part - I can't see it.

So a few orbits go by and I'm not very active, maybe playing a few small parts.

Then THIS HAND HAPPENS - with the same Old, European Gentleman who I've busted again and again. But now he's got over $700 in front of him, as he had doubled up+ a few hands previously.

I have pocket sixes in EP. I raise to $10.

Everyone folds but the Old, European Gentleman on the button. We see a flop of AAQ.

I grab 4 chips - 3 red and a buck - from the front of my stack - for a normal C-bet of $16.

Except, as I release the chips over the line and they clatter in super slow-motion onto the felt, I see that I've accidentally thrown the yellow chip into the pot!

So instead of betting $16, I've bet $1011.

The above icons are me, on the inside. On the outside, I just smirk, and sit back in my chair, looking at my opponent, non-nonchalant.

Now, you have to realize - THIS GUY HAS NOT FOLDED A HAND SINCE HE'S SAT DOWN. Okay, maybe one or two, but he plays every damn hand. I mean, he called my all-in on the river with TP and a T kicker, and then called my massive checkraise against him and another guy with a 5-high flush draw, then pushed the turn when he missed.

I think we understand this guy does not like to fold, right?

So the Old Guy tanks. He looks at his hand.
Fidgets. Sighs. Shakes his head again.

Finally, he turns over his hand:

He's got A3

...But he hasn't called yet.

He looks at me, shakes his head some more, stacks some chips, counts his stack. He even picks up a stack and hovers it close to the betting line, like he's talking himself into a call.

Then...

He grins at me and shakes his head again, pointing with his chip stack at me.

"No!" He yells. "I'm not gon-give you no more money. I give you too much already."

And he mucks. Very pleased with himself.

Naturally, I showed my pocket sixes, racked up, and got the hell out of there.

That's what you call dodging a bullet.

That is defintely a bullet dodged. I would have tried to verbalize my bet as I saw the 1k chip go in. If its simultaneous-ish they would let you do the verbal bet. I hope....

72 hour session eating awful food and drinking cheap beer. Went to the bathroom to take a leak and coughed while doing so. My anus released a geyser of clear diarrhea that I'll never forget. It felt like 50 gallons of snot running down my legs. I paid the bathroom attendant to find a dealer who was going on break and had him go buy me a change of clothes at Kohls.

This actually reminded me that I once walked up to a table after being away and picked up "my " stack and headed to the window. On the way there I walked past my real stack, and realized I basically walked over and picked up someone else's stack that was about the same as mine at the wrong table. I put it back and the dealer was calling the floor so I just left with my real stack and cashed it at the casino cashier. No one at the table noticed some stranger picked up that stack.

First round of blinds in saturday deep stack tourney, I'm utg+1 with 77. Utg bets 4x bb. I call.

Flop comes kq7. Utg bets. I raise. Utg re-raises. I tank and figure he has kk or qq. It's the 4x and he's old ... old people always 4x kk and qq because they play scared. If he had ak or aa it's always 3x or 2.5x.

I'm not scared obv so I fold.

He later told me he had kq.

Guy re-raised huge, I thought he was all in and snap called with quads.

He wasn't all in. I ended up calling and left him with $40 on the table I didn't see under his arm.

A few weeks ago I was playing live 1/3 NL and got into a multi-way pot with JTs.

BTN and SB get all-in and I'm playing side pot HU against UTG+1.

I river my straight and shove the rest of my stack in. Before UTG+1 acts I accidentally table my hand and show her the nuts. Made her fold pretty easy!

I still won a huge pot but wonder if I could have made another $1-200 if I had just been a little more patient.

Ouch. I had something similar when I mucked like A2o after 6 limpers were in the pot, was pushing cards forward as dealer tried to grab and both flipped up.

Everyone made fun of me. Image ruined, table changed shortly after.

Today in stud-8 I proudly tabled and announced my straight six to hear the dealer declare "pair of 4s no low". 64432. I was sure I needed the 4 to complete my hand (on 5th street no less), I never looked back. Hammered it. Guy called down with 2 pairs for a nice scoop.

Is it bluffing if you believe it?

First time I played for real in a casino I flopped top set with a board like T98 with two cards to a flush on it. Being out of position I x/c flop, x/c blank on turn and when board paired on river to give out the flush the guy shoved in the rest of his stack. I was so focused on whether or not the guy had a straight or flush draw that I totally ignored the fact that barring quads I held the nuts. I tanked for about two minutes and then made a speech about how I this was such an awful suckout because I know he had the flush by now and show them how good I am at poker I open mucked my cards with everyone sitting there with mouths gaping wide open. I immediately realized my mistake but my hand is declared dead and the guy needles me by showing his flush with the comment "yeah a full house always loses to flushes."

About an hour earlier I was seated at a limit holdem table until my spot at no limit opened up and that was excruciatingly embarrassing for the few orbits before my spot opened up because I knew absolutely nothing about the structure of limit poker, luckily I was seated next to the dealer so it was easy for her to keep helping me with putting out correct amount of chips. Also lost nut flush vs quads and it was capped every round, couldn't understand why the villian kept building up the pot because obviously his flush was worse than mine - man have I learned a lot about poker since then.

In was in Prague for what was basically a drinking holiday with a group of guys. A few us staggered into a casino late on Friday night and the place was still packed full of drunken punters like ourselves. I decided to play live cash for the first time ever as my mates went for roulette(could see the dollar signs flashing in the dealers eyes as guys that can barely walk approached the tables) The game was 1-2 in Czech Koruna which is basically about 25c-50c. I was absolutely steaming so this was not the best decision but the limits were lower than usual games I can find live.

Like my third hand I was dealt JJ UTG+1 so I raised. Two callers and the flop came JTx. What I was trying to do next was bet around half pot, what I actually did was pick up a chip that said 30k on it and threw it in saying loudly, either due to drunkenness or from being used to playing with tourney chips, 30,000.

Obviously it stood for 30 koruna which was closer to what I actually should have bet. No one’s quite sure what I did tbh as I clearly didn’t have 30k behind. Floor manager came over and ruled I had over shoved the flop for about 150 koruna. Guy on the button snaps me off with QJ thinking easy money and I turn over the set to look like the biggest angle shooting d’ck

I just did this. It's not terrible but pretty bad because of why I did it. I'm in the 3 seat and I raise to 10 in a 1/2 game, the 5 seat puts 2 out thinking it's still 2, the rules at the casino are that it's a call, so he has to put 10 out and play the hand. I'm watching his hands because of all of this and he accidentally flashes his cards to me when he looked. What I thought I saw was J9 but wasn't sure. The flop came JJ6 of course. I wasn't positive I saw a J so I bet 10 and he immediately raises to 30. I fold KK face up to make it look like I'm some God at reading hands. He flips 97o

The other day, I made a flush with 76ss on the turn and then folded to a big bet on the river when another spade hit. I didn't realize until the cards were in the air, flying towards the muck, that I had made a straight flush.

Oh well.

They actually do this so people can't complain to the pit boss that the dealer misinterpreted them.

You'd rage quit a shoe before you ever had the chance to double a stiff. The true count would have to be like negative 6 billion.

Poker story to make up for the nittery:

I open LP, 2p2er defends BB. I start thinking about what he thinks my range is, and decide he puts me on A5o+, and I'm near the bottom of range. This somehow morphs into "I have A5o" in my mind.

Board runs out A5x-x-x, he check-calls three times, and I declare "two pair" as I roll my ... A7o.

He was gracious and pointed out that if he had that beat I would have heard from him earlier.

I don't believe it happens at any count with a simple counting system like HILO. At very low counts we have less of a chance of busting, but so does the dealer. I believe it may come up in some multi-parameter systems which focus heavily on PE for single deck games, like if we have 12 vs. 6 and we know all the 9s are left and a lot of the Ts are gone.

I think it's much more likely you are a cheater than a counter (but most likely a ploppy) if you are doubling stiffs, or you have next-card information.
