Cliffs at bottom, for the TLDR crowd. Sorry I just like to write
Played a really large pot for this particular NL game a few years ago, total pot ended up being just over $6k.
Anyway, table was very deep/actiony so I called an utg raise with 89dd also in EP, bunch of calls behind including a seemingly solid aggressive TAG in the CO (based on few times playing), both blinds called as well. Flop came K53dd and it checked to the CO who stabbed $100 into like $225, folded back to me and i decided to check raise to 375$, he tanked for a good while and finally ended up calling. Turn Td I checked again and he bet 540$ after a bit of thought. I called and the river came Kc. I ended up tanking and finally decided to shove for $2k, thinking he would just check back a K/not pay off a big bet anyway and I basically had the worst possible flush, so thought the board pairing/him not really being able to have a boat it was a decent spot to try and steal the pot vs a better flush.
He ended up tanking for well over a minute and kept muttering to himself, shuffled his cards etc before finally spite throwing in chips for the call. I shook my head said "nice call" and turned around to grab my jacket to get ready to leave. He ended up clapping, fist bumped his railing friend and turned over his cards/threw a tip to the dealer. At this point he turned over his hand which was 62dd.
At that point had to do the "sorry actually you are not good" and I turned over the winner. Got berated by multiple people at the table over the next couple hours, but luckily the other player took it well/didn't steam at all.
Cliffs: slow/nit rolled reg badly in a 1,200bb pot. Learned lesson to always just show immediately or muck when called to avoid being a douche. Also made me realize how crappy I was at profiling other players/picking bluff spots
