All you have to do there is agree that the fish played the hand correctly; there's no need to tell him you would have played the hand differently when he makes a bad call.
There is a balance there. The two rules of thumb here are first, don't tap tank, and second, keep the fish happy. If the fish is one of those jerk lol live regs who think they know everything and these young guys are too aggressive...strategy won't keep them happy since they know it all already. The gambooooooool aggro types, they don't care.
But the I want to learn since I suck but no matter what I get told I won't actually apply it or apply it horribly...these people want to talk strategy. If they ask you, they want an answer. So you want to give an answer that seems substantive.
I disagree with earlier posts...most people know there is a vague concept called odds...they just dont know how to apply them at all. So saying something involving odds isnt wrong per se.
To me, any conditional statement is a good way to give him an answer he likes without educating...something like IF I THINk HE HAS A HAND, then I don't think I have the odds...it gives the donk the ability to save face by saying I thought he was bluffing.
In general though, simply saying I'm not paying attention isnt always the best answer...sometimes you got to give them something that at least SOUNDS smart....basic, generic talking points so they think they are talking strategy as if they are one of the sharks......keeps em happy, which is the single most important thing.
