I might be excited if you both have AK, what a fool

I had a dealer say to me (we're friends; it's against the rules to talk about people's play at the table but w/e) when I called a 40bb open-shove pre with AhKh that I shouldn't call there because AK is really nothing before the flop (he was serious).

I always chop and I've had a few hands where I say "Chop?" in the sb, they sigh and say fine and table kings while I have aces.

Do you always let the blinds chop when you are the button with Aces?

Assuming this is serious, think about what you're saying when you chop with poor hands but refuse to chop with good hands. You're saying I only want to gamble with you when I've got a big edge. That seems rude to me.

I always tell people....

"I prefer unsuited cards because that way you can get a flush 2 ways rather than 1."

"10-5 is actually a pretty good hand because all straight combinations have either a 10 or a 5... so you've got a better chance of getting one"

"I don't like pockets. With pockets, you only have 2 outs. If your cards are different, you have 6 outs."

"You know what my favourite hands are?.... AA and KK... because they both win all the time"

Obviously they're all pretty facepalm.jpg, but I ****ing love saying them.

Story from Parx Casino right outside of Philly.

Guy sits down by accident at 2/5 table (with like 70 bucks or so - minimum buy-in is 200). Dealer and players don't notice, so he is dealt a hand -AA. There is a raise to 25, reraise to 75, the guy folds his AA. Said he was afraid to lose all his money in one hand with 2 raises in front of him.

Wayyyy back when, when I first had begn to understand the game, but not understand the "don't teach the fish" concept, someone said that exact line to me when I called an all-in of $200 in a 2/5 game (Very loose player bet $25, I bet $75, he raised all-in approx. $200).

Player to my right told me the same line, and I said "True but my nothing is better than his nothing", and board ran out all low cards and he tabled KQo. I smirked to the guy and said "See - better nothing".

Wouldn't have been nearly as impressive if he tabled TT though.

I was playing a 1/2 100 max game in Pensacola, FL not to long ago and saw this beauty.

I think there were like 3 limpers, SB raises something like $16, BB immediately raises to $70. It folds around and SB shoves for like 200 more and BB SNAP calls. Flop: AK2 Turn: J River: J

Split pot. SB tables 94o, BB flips over 96o.

I felt bad for BB, he made the right call, he was dominating that hand.

a live fish the other day wouldnt stop talking about how AQ is statistically the worst hand in poker because you will lose the most money to this. Ive learned enough to not try to correct these people because they dont listen, and it will only make me seem like some "holier than thou" internet punk. So anyways, he gets all in against my QQ for 75 BBs with AQo and binks an ace. When I ask him why he played AQ the "worst hand in poker" he said "its AQ, I cant fold it". I wasnt even tilted when I left the tourney that day, the dude just leveled himself.

at mohegan sun a player at 1/2 nl said that if u play for a living (which he said he did...) and u have a lot of money on the table you should lay down pocket aces preflop in a cash game

every1 at the table was arguing and making fun of him until the dealer told every1 to let it go or else he'd call the floor

on a side note, we later found out from his girlfriend that hes been going to gamblers anonymous...

Guy who used to play in one of my home games - spread limit stud, would lose with a J-hi flush to a K-hi flush would argue that the pot had to be split because "according to Hoyle, a flush is a flush"

I would of course remind him that Hoyle died at least a century before poker was invented, but that never stopped him from complaining.

Reminds me of a home game from about 5 years ago.

After the river there are two spades on board, one being the ace. Two players had two spades and one player said it would be a chop since they both have A-high flush. A second player thought it'd be whoever between them had the lowest spade since they'd have an ace to deuce flush.

I miss playing with them

Playing 8/16 limit HE at Parx and the guy next to me keeps betting the wrong amount (not 8 or 16), dealer corrects him, game moves on... After an hour or so of continually doing this he leans over and asks me why how come he can only bet $16 when last night playing the lower limits (2/5!) they let him bet anything he wanted.

Not quite poker thinking, but still hillarious.

At the Hollywood Casino Indiana last night. They are having the Hollywood Fall Classic, its saturday night, so theres lots of action and gawkers. I'm waiting to check in and a guy with his wife looks at the board they have explaining games and buy ins.

First game on list is "3-6 Limit Holdem (30 min)". The guy looks at his wife and says "who can afford to play for 30 dollars a minute?"

I peed my pants a little.

By far the most absurd thinking at the table occurs when someone is doing their "act like a donk" routine.

On the first level, the fake stuff they say is pretty hilarious (remember - T5o is the best hand in poker, maximum number of ways to be involved in a flush or straight!)

On the second level is the genuine absurd thinking - that they think anyone buys it.

It's right up there with "answer a fake phone call 10 minutes after you win a huge pot" hilarity. Everyone knows, just stop.
