yeah you can make money playing nits who think they are brilliant players. but its obviously more profitable to play against the rec player who is just having fun and not there to think.

oh and most of these people making dumb plays probably have more money than these nits posting how dumb they are.
You can be a recreational, occasional, even horrendous player, and still know basic stuff like what-beats-what. Most of the things in this thread that people are telling us are absolutely comical, we're talking level 1 rules and thought.

If you don't like the premise of the thread, you don't have to post in it telling us you don't like our thread. It's not as if the title is ambiguous.

Tonight I went and played for only like an hour. I hear a guy tell some story how his big pair got hit by a set on turn. Of course in telling story he says, "So I bet turn here $40 just to see where I am at" and because he wasn't saying it to me and was across the table I only hear "needless to say he snapped me off for my stack" So if you're betting to see where your at, and guy moves in on you (telling you right where you are), yet you still call!!!

Was this at a 1/2 at mohegan sun? If so I was the guy with the set..if not this exact same thing happened to me around this time

Yea, I hate it when people mouth the donks at the table... it totally kills your action so bad.

I normally encourage them to just keep plugging away and tell them they're doing fine or just getting unlucky.

me: "yeah well done mate you called 30 to win 80 on a 4 to 1 shot"

him: "no i didnt theres 110 in the pot"

me: " but that includes the 30 bucks you put in to call"

him: (as if talking to a ******) "once it's in the pot its there to be won"
He had implied odds also... so if he got action on the river, it would've been easily +EV play obv.

Worst play I've ever seen live:

Alex: Ah 4c
Allen: As 8s

Preflop: Raise $20... Call....

Flop: Ks Ad 6s.... Alex bets $50... Allen calls

Turn: 10s...... Alex bets $50... Allen raises $100... Alex calls

River: Js.... Alex bets $75... Allen raises to $275.... Alex goes all-in for $400... Allen calls.

Alex shows Ah 4c (A pair of Aces)
Allen shows As 8s (A flush Ace-high)

Allen wins pot $1100ish.

Gav800 "Why'd you reraise on the river???"
Alex "I just didn't think he had it"

1/2 at Winstar in Oklahoma, I open for $12 UTG with KK get 2 callers. Guy leads out for $25 on 10 3 2 rainbow board, other guy calls. I push for $120 first guy folds, 2nd guy calls and shows J7. He said "I thought you were bluffing".

This semi-reg superfish at my game is a real nit postflop.
When he has a set or two pair but a straight or flush is possible, he will just check.

So it gets checked down on all streets and he has like AK on AKT75 which is obviously clearly the best hand, he explains, now he's done this like 5 times+ "I can't bet when there's a straight out there you know. I can only call, there is no reason for me to bet".
He also says and teaches other fish the following "If you reraise, you have to be mentally prepared to go all in. If you can't go all in, you shouldn't be raising"

Guy is betting into me on the river. I have the nuts and stacks are very deep. As I start counting out a possible raise, he asks the player next to him "Is he raising? I can't get away from this hand". And I secretly LOL my ass off in my head but keep a straight face. Turns out he was serious. Well said.

Playing down Circus in Manchester last night .50/£1 nl (UK money, think the US equivalent would be $1/$2nl

Anyway, new game had started with 4 of us, two guys were drunk (got to love the Friday drunks)

I'm BB with T7o, decide to defend my blinds, raise to £3, he calls, flop comes out with two spades but nothing hit, think they were overcards, i make a feeler/continuation bet of £3 to see where I am, he calls, turn is a third spade (giving me four spades), I check, he checks, river is another spade, giving me a ten high flush

I think for a while and call £5, he calls, dealer goes, right show your cards guys, I show my T expecting to be beat, guy mucks his hand, but as he does so, his friend asks him what he had, he said QT and reaches into the muck to show his Q spade

idiot would've won, but cause he mucked I got the pot. Ended up £110 quid richer that night for only two and a half hours of play. I ask him why he mucked, and his response was:

"I panicked when I saw you had a flush"

wtf lol

playing a live tourney, guy opens MP, i 3bet from the BB with KK, he calls. flop comes J83, i cbet, he shoves, i call. he sort of shrugs and says "i think we have the same hand". so i'm not really sure what that means he has but i like my hand. then he turns over..... JJ. wtf?? i just sort of stare at the board and don't say anything. then i turn a K and smile inside

I think the "well you could have been bluffing" is a common bit of stupid thinking. A guy the other night called 80% of his stack of with king high because he "thought you had f*ck all".

Just idiotic. Really annoying because it gave one of the regs on my table a massive stack to play table bully with.

This one time I was in a game and someone made a dumb comment about having a big stack to bully with in a cash game.

In the example I'm referring to, it was a SnG. Giving a good lag player double the chips of everyone else is usually going to make it harder for the rest of the table no?

Guy A loses on the river after flopping 2 pair.

Guy A: "I should've known better than to play a 17% hand".
Guy B: "What do you mean by 17% hand?"
Guy A: "If you flop 2 pair, your odds of winning are only 17%'.

Err... and your point being?

HU / 3-way pots are massively +EV... you have like 33-50% chance of winning... you can play the player and not the cards.

Being in pots 6-handed, 8-handed is ****ing gay... you have no chance of winning and its basically bingo.

Witnessed some huge donk-on-donk violence in a 1/2 game recently. One guy has been slamming champagne for hours, the other is the ultimate calling station.

4 way limped pot gets checked through to the river. Board reads K J 7 6 2 (diamond fell on the river). Checked to champagne guy who bets 100 into a $10 pot. Station instacalls.

Champagne guy shows 82o, calling station wins with pocket 5s

I played some 3/6 last night. I got AA on button. I raise, we go 7 to the flop. I am good til river when sb bets out and some other donk calls. I muck AA face up and he shows nut flush. SB says, "that is why I don't raise AA with that many people in, you don't get anyone out" Yeah, I raise to thin field from button.

This is where the craziness ensues though. My response is, "I raised because I am favored" Then a few of them go on to tell me that I am not the favorite there. OMG head asssplode!!!!
