Gonna have to be that guy that points out that you can't make all straights with T5.

Remember that every unique straight is named for its highest card (i.e. 8-high straight, J-high straight, etc). And there is indeed one straight that a T5 cannot make.

It can make a 9-high straight flush.

Are you being pedantic and saying that it can't make all straights because it can't make a 9 high straight?

Cards talk, so the hand yo make is the best possible combination of your cards and the board. That being the case, it is impossible to make a 9 high straight, as these cards would also make a ten high straight

A straight flush and a straight are not the same hand

I enjoyed the humor but this is the most inappropriate thread to pull that one in

I had a guy get pissed at me when he was EP and limped, called my 17.5 bb preflop raise with J4. He flops 2 pair, pushes AI and I was getting 5:1 on a call and made a better 2 pair on the river.

failed to question if he should be calling (let alone limping from EP) with J4. Guess that limped investment of $2 was too much to let go.

Today I learned that I can't make a 9-high straight with T5.
My autistic tendency thanks that guy (the one that nobody likes).

Wrong and wrong.

Once the cards are shuffled and the deck set, it's not gonna change whether you folded or called. Jesus F Christ I can't believe I'm trying to explain this.

Whatever action he takes WILL affect all future hands though.

Standard poker answer: It depends.

A guy checks back the stone cold nuts on the river. His reasoning: "It is called slow playing."

Yup.
Playing stud, a very long time ago:
"Why did you call? You were beaten in sight."
"I was bluffing".

(I actually heard that one once.)

He clearly didn't know he was beaten already.
Duh.

Many years ago we had a stud player in our home game (limit) who would occasionally call the last bet saying, "Well, I'm beat on the board but I want to see what you were playing."

Obviously, but the absurd part was that he explained his call by saying he was bluffing.

At an old home game, we had a friend who would call the final bet in stud games when he was beaten showing and say he was bluffing. He did it often enough that we started to refer to it as him "calling his own bluff"

Home game with a bunch of inexperienced players.

Player A who’s very new to poker doesnt raise on the river with the nuts. Player B not in the hand points it out. Player A then claims defensively, “Well he wasn’t calling anyway.”

lol

Actually, he makes a good point.
Had he raised, opponent could have folded/mucked.
This hand was just info gathering hand

Lol, reading back through the thread, this is remarkably similar to the infamous Postle hand.

You do realize the 4-6 is ahead of A-Q and almost even to the A-K if he is the only one suited and is suited alone. Doesn’t mean he should be there but he isn’t that big dog.

If he can see their cards, sure.
