theory checks out
The 46 were suited and I’m assuming the AK and AQ were not, as OP didn’t say they were. according to the odds calculator at cardplayer.com

AK 39.94%
AQ 19.04%
64 38.25%

Seems like pretty good odds to me. Things do change if, for example, the K and Q were the same suit as the 64.

AK 41.54%
AQ 20.29%
64 35.25%

Playing a $300 turbo decently far in but still well off the money, guy 3x's from MP off 20bb then folds to my jam from the sb which covered after taking for over 3 minutes and shows TT. Said he didn't want to flip for his tournament life.

Same guy also tanked for 2 minutes after 5x'ing with QT off 10bb before finally calling a jam.

I guess not so much absurd thinking as absurd plays.

last night, lady with AA lost in a 3 way pot. (pocket pairs AA vs KK, vs 88)

A, x, x, 8, 8 and as the last 8 hit she says before the cards are tabled.. "there's the savior, I needed that" only to find out she lost to quad 8s.

then she proceeded to sit at the empty table behind us looking at her phone when the cocktail waitress walks by. I guess the ladies foot was brushed by the cocktail waitress and she demanded an apology.. when she didn't get the 'respect' she felt she deserved, she demanded to talk to the card manager on staff, which occurred for an hour or so..

time goes by and I had forgotten about the whole thing until I walk outside to go to my car.. and that's when I see her talking to two police officers and describing that the cocktail waitress viciously kicked her.. not really sure what her 'end game' was with all of this but she kept saying that it was all videoed and she can't wait to see the tape.

someone who stayed later texted me and said that the paramedics refused to treat her as there was nothing to treat.. would have loved to have seen her reaction.

She was trying to get a rebate from the casino for her aces getting cracked.

Playing 1/2. Haven't been there long. I have ~450, main V covers. Don't know much about him, but he'd raised PF several times in the short time id been there.

V opens $11, H BTN 3! $35 with AJo. Older gentlemen in SB goes AI for less, which was $34. I actually thought the older gentlemen had more, but it turned out the greens by his left hand were actually his neighbors; whatever.
Main V snap jams for my $450 effective. I obviously fold, and while doing so I jokingly ask V "why so much" or something to that affect. He then replies with "I'm happy with just taking what's in there" as he tables QQ. The dealer then tosses V the $2 side pot and the older gentlemen tables K5s. K on the flop and the old guy triples up.

Probably nothing in here that's the "most absurd", but I thought it to be pretty funny that he puts in a huge overbet jam with QQ because he's happy just taking what's in there, and what he's taking is a $2 sidepot with a protected main pot.

Okay that last post is pretty absurd.

And.... I want my 45 seconds back.

Absurd?
... That OP actually thinks V is talking about the $2 and not the $70+
... That V would rather take on an OMC getting 2 to 1 than try to extract value with a premium hand for 200bb+

That is just (all too) common 1/2 thinking seen on a daily basis. GL

C'mon, I clearly knew that what V was talking about was the entire pot. That's the point, that he over-bet jams QQ for 200+ bb in a spot where he's only getting called by better, potentially losing a lot of value with a premium hand because he was happy taking the pot as-is. All the while seemingly oblivious to the fact that he's in a protected main pot with an old guy where he'll still have to win at showdown, and the pot he "took down" with the overbet was a whopping $2 side pot.

There seems to be far too many people on these boards that grasp at straws to try to troll just for the sake of trolling. Maybe that's the truly "absurd" part.

It seems to be quite a challenge to make a post that doesn't get roasted. I'd just ignore them.

FWIW V's thinking is absurd and does belong in this thread. It's just kind of a standard live poker moment, though. His thinking is very common.

Live 1/2nl. Older guy flops nut straight on 854A2 with 67 (no flush draw on board). Checks back river in position, continues to tell me and the guy on the other side of him during next hand that he was nervous villain had higher straight

well, you have to check it back sometimes to stay balanced. otherwise your river check-back range won't contain enough nutted hands and your opponents can exploit that. his check back was probably just what the rng said to do

honestly your ability to misplace commas is probably more absurd than your quote.

Last night at 2/5 a guy sits down to my left from the must move table. I raise to $20 with KsQx in MP and he calls and the SB calls. Flop 10d 9s 4s. I cbet $45 and he calls, SB folds.

Turn 3s. I bet $100 and he goes into the tank. He asks 'Why so much??' He thinks some more and exposes his 10s and asks if I have the flush. I don't say anything and assume this charade will end soon and the hand will be over since he's showing me his hand.

He turns his card back over and calls the $100.

River is 8c.

I bet $250 and he's incredulous. He says he's got the flush, looks at me and stares and asks What could I possibly have?? He starts naming all my flush possibilities like AKss and KQss.

He asks to see it for $5. Then $25. Says $250 is too much for him. I'm super confused and ask if he wants me to change my bet. He says no, he'll fold and then pay me to see the flush. I consider this to be an angle for info, but say 'sure'. He thinks for a second and mucks and I show my bluff and he loses it. He just can't believe I'd bluff there.

I'm stacking my chips and not really saying anything and he counts out $25 and ships it to me. A few beats go by and he says "You would've **** yourself if I raised there." Before I could answer, another player goes 'Uh, I think he would've just folded.'

He leaves to buy more chips and the dealer starts laughing his ass off. He asks me how it was possible to win a pot and get paid off while bluffing.

Playing 1/2 with a MAWG. He wears a mesh-type baseball cap inside out and gets super drunk. Not belligerent or loud, just glassy-eyed and listens to his headphones. He obviously just likes f'ing around with 1/2 players and does everything in his power to annoy them. He open shoves AK and blind raises and puts lots of pressure.

OTTH

After the usual shenanigans and grumpy mumbling from the OMC's/regulars he has built up a decent stack. Villain opens in EP for a normal $10 raise and it folds to this guy in the BB. He pauses and open mucks AA. Preflop. I start laughing hysterically while the whispers between players grows to a low roar. The looks on their faces was unbelievable.

The best meta-game player I've ever seen.

Pretty sure Barry Greenstein doesn't run it more than once for basically this same reason

A few weeks ago in our weekly Friday night tournament, I put out KKKKA on the board. There are 5 players in the hand.

Action goes check, check, All-In... and the table starts to laugh.

Sure enough, one player folds.

Was he penalized for folding the nuts?

Technically, last to act could have been penalized if he had checked.

hahaha. Saw something similiar in LV - on a X 8 9 X board, guy open shoved for a load with 8 9 and flipped his cards on purpose presumably to get the other guy out (who knows why, maybe draw heavy board). Anyway, KK still made the call and binked the K on river LOL

Same for Phil Ivey. But both of them will sometimes run it more than once if opponent is a rec player and asks for it.

Totally legit (and good) strategy.

If I know opponent is always willing to run more than once I can easily shove with good draws knowing I will usually realize my equity. At the same time opponent can't call if he doesn't have a good hand.
