Just two of you = 50 - 50, obviously.

Not sure about the thinking but just saw this hand at 1/2.

UTG opens to $30, MP 3 bets to $60, UTG shoves $460 (MP covers). MP is tanking for a while and UTG, getting impatient, says I'll show you a card and flips over a 9.

V snaps with AQo and promptly loses to K9.

Tournament. After the flop a player shoves after he gets one fold he flips over his pocket Aces. Unfortunately for him another player was still in the pot.

The other player is a very sweet old lady who plays for fun and I would never be mean to her, but it was still kind of sad and stunning to watch her hem and haw for a while knowing exactly what he had and how much the bet was. People at the table and I (the dealer) assumed she had some big draw that made for a tough decision.

She finally reluctantly folds and flips over... Kings.

Everyone is stunned it took her so long to make a pretty easy decision and her response was just "It's tough to fold Kings."

1/2 A long time ago I think I had AJ on KJT2Qr, there was not a whole lot of action until the river where I bet large and my opponent called. I assume we were chopping almost always and when I turned over my hand. He was sitting directly next to me and goes "Ah you have the straight with the pair. I knew you had that I should have folded" He holds up his cards shows me an Ace and throws his hand into the muck.

If he showed the King, he could have induced fold

had a bit of a break from poker for about a year but had a relaxing weekend so thought i might go down to the local game ahve a little bit of play and what not.
pretty decent 3/5 game everyone is deepish 200bb then this hand happens
someone raises pre 15-20 get the usual 5-6 callers
flop is T88r
v1 leads out for 30 bucks
4 callers
turn is an 8
v1 again bets 50
v2 calls
v3 all in for 200
v1 goes into the tank but after 5 mins calls
v2 calls
river is a 6
v1 bets out 300
v2 raises to 800
v1 tanks again and after 4-5 min calls

v1 shows his hand 66
v2 show 8x
v3 show Tx

the worst part was v1 was on my side of the table and was flashing his cards that we knew what we had. I literary had to leave to table because i could stop laughing watching this guy just give his money away.

Just noticed this thread...

I was playing a few weeks ago at my usual place. Guy comes in and sits down with the max 300 buy in. Says hello to the table with a heavy French accent. I ask where u from? He says, Montreal, QC. "Bingo" I think to myself. Super aggressive-clueless maniac.

Guy fits the bill immediately and has donked off 2 rebuys within about 1/2 an hour.

This makes him even more aggressive and he's raising each and every hand.

He's under the gun and makes it 18 to go. A tight player with a slightly smaller stack, thinks for a minute and then goes all in. The guy to his left then goes all in who has a monster stack.

The Montreal maniac, is clearly stressing out. On the one hand, he clearly wants to be a donkey, on the other, he's facing clear danger of yet another buy in.

he thinks for a minute...

Another minute passes by...

Another minute ........

"CALL"

Maniac is holding 9-5 off-suit, 1st raiser had Ace-Queen Suited, Second Raiser has Pocket Kings. Maniac hits a 9 straight on the river and nearly triples up.

There's a small break at the table as maniac goes for a smoke and two players buy more chips. I turn to the guy next to me and say "can you believe that play?"

Guy next to me says, with 100% a straight face: "oh yeah, but he had to call..he was getting priced in".

not so much 'absurb poker thinking' but not creating a new thread so deal with it.

local room was running a 100k guarantee tourney with several day 1's with entry being $300 and up to 2 hrs to late reg I believe (could have been 3hrs).

anyways, this reg/splashy guy is playing from his rack (1/2nl) and has about 500 and keeps questioning out loud if he should enter the day1 flight that was currently running.. during this contemplation he lost a few pots (couple hundred or so), unracks then wins a few, reracks and continues to contemplate playing.. well the f'ing dealer looks at him and says "well hey now you have your entry in your rack.. it'll basically be a freeroll".

I looked at the dealer and said "are you out of your mind? why would you say that?"

he replied that he never plays tournaments (besides the point, and yes he does/has) and says "watch he'll go to the elevator after hitting the cashier cage" to which I said "no he won't"... well I stopped watching the guy but the dealer said "oh I guess you're right" as he walks over to the tournament area and takes a seat.

I love the dealers at my local stomping grounds but damn they're a little too comfortable with their clientele. a few other deals have said things like "oh that's the river that no one was looking for" or "there goes that straight" after a completing flush hits the board..

just annoying.. borderline "absurb".

Have you tried politely speaking up to the dealer when he does this?

dude knew he was set versus set but kept arguing he filled up on river and opponent (with top set) didn't ... another one against me, I have kings versus his queens, a littl pair hits the board and he thinks he wins "I made two-pair"

like weird

1/2 nl Early still on a Saturday. New table. Young college kid sits to my left. Early 30's pleasant dude to my right. Becomes pretty obvious to me, both don't have much of a clew, especially the college kid.
Kid, after playing questionably and losing some pots, goes on a heater.
Busting Kings with 9 4 s and the usual crazy type of hands that fish like to play i guess. My neighbor to my right now seems to think that college kid is some wunderkind, he's won all this money hasn't he.
Well, he starts really getting out of line by constantly donk betting and people start playing back at him.

After he gets reraised and folds, college kid and his new admirer look at each other and, both with a smirk of disbelief on their faces, one says to the other
"People starting to play so weird"

Twice fairly recently I've seen someone pass their cards to the dealer face down on the river at showdown with what they believed was the best hand in big pots. This was ruled as a muck both times. The 2nd time was against me (I did actually have the best hand though and I showed). They were 2 different players and they seemed to think the dealer would flip it over for them.

We're probably never going to top the first story's, everything's probably been said. So, forgive me if I'm repeating but I thought this one is also worth a mention.

1/2 nl casino.
Young guy, raising and betting pretty much relentlessly. This doesn't go unnoticed.
We'll call him young gun 1
Young gun 2 is another active player but a meek Jesuit monk compared to young gun 1
Young gun 2 was forced to fold to a big flop raise, just recently, to young gun 1 and was promptly shown an air bluff from young gun 1.

Otth

Young gun 1 raises pre flop to 14
Young gun 2 3bets to 40
Young gun 1 ponders, tanks for half a minute, goes all in.
Young gun 2 calls all in
Board runs out
Young gun 2" your pair is good"
Young gun 1" what? No, you're good"
Young gun 2 shows AQo , whiffed the board
Young gun 1 shows A Jo, whiffed the board
Young gun 2 scoops
Young gun 1" you had a hand, I thought you were making a move on me "

Down to final 3 in sit n go. I had just lost a big pot AK<99 for most my stack and was down to 4bb. I'm in bb.

Folded to lady in SB who really doesn't like me (because I had been shoving for 10bb effective all tournament and she really didn't like that). She looks down and open folds AT because "if I shove you're gonna call and I might have to double you up".

Yeah. Two aggros going all-in preflop with AQ and AJ. In fact based on the situation I think both players played it pretty good (shoving with AJ which is pretty high up in his range, and called by AQ). Even the showdown convo is pretty standard.

Well, like I said, "it's probably worth a mention", not it's a slam dunk.
The "absurd part" so to speak was for me when aggro 1 said" I thought you were making a move". Of course aggro 2 was making a move against him.
Do you think he would have gone all in with A Qo against anybody?
Anyways. Hope it was at least somewhat entertaining.

Guy sits down behind two stacks of red, right after I joined the table. It's 1-2, his turn and he makes hand gestures like he is really confused about what to do. The bet is two and he only has five dollar chips. Guy next to him says he can just put out a five if he wants to call, so he does.

It gets raised and when it gets back to him folds and says 'these aren't even my chips'. Most absurd poker "thinking" you have heard in a live game?

He got send to the table and just sat at the only empty chair he saw.
