"Don't you know that?" he says. "I thought everyone knew that." Mind you, we have played together at A for a decade or more. When I ask him for details, he tells me that the office at A has a computer that controls all the shuffling machines; when the shift managers and floor supervisors go into this office, they program the computer to give winning hands to their friends and off-duty dealers. "That's why I never win there," he says. "I always lose."

In other words: Live poker is rigged!

And tonight an older Asian woman who works as a dealer said while playing, "I would rather have pocket nines than pocket queens because a nine comes out much more often—haven't you ever noticed that? It's true."
Lol. You didn't ask Mr. Greek about the dealer card cut changing the card order after the shuffler rigs the cards?

Well since he never wins at cardroom A, I'd want him to go back to it so I can run into him there too. Lol.

You shoudn't say it because it's wrong. The dealers are obviously in on it to get extra tips

Re: Most absurd poker "thinking" you have heard in a live game?

Ultimate Texas Hold'em table game ...
1) Sit in the anchor seat
2) Always increase your bet for the first hand after a new player sits down
3) Get strange look from Dealer and win!
4) Go back to your normal 'game'

Why? Because when a new player sits down you get what would've been the Dealer's cards in most rooms. Obviously the shuffler hasn't had time to react to the new player sitting down yet and you can take advantage!! GL

PS ... Same can be said if a player stands up, as the Dealer now gets your 'losing' cards instead and their's stays in the stub.

This is totaly legit but not in the exact way the fish is describing. It's not the cards the dealer is giving them but them psycing themselves out of playing well.

Ha! All of you are wrong. Even with the cut card, the computer arranges it so no matter where the cut card lands, the same seat will still win in any of the 52 possibilities. These cardshuffling computer are smart!

I've heard Nasa wants to use the card shuffler technology to create a hole through the annals of time. They are quite amazed at the sheer power of technology they have in them.

Every casino gift shop should sell tin foil hats and they should be mandatory attire for the majority of the patrons.

Guy at craps table who just can't shut up "give me the 9, everyone know that after a 12 the 9 hits"

Stick guy "7-out, out-7"

Guy at craps table who just can't shut up says to the pit critter "can you comp me 8 feet of bull rope?

Pit critter "why sir?"

Guy "If that 9 doesn't hit soon I'm gonna ****ing hang myself"

Six other guys at table offer to buy Home Depot gift cards.

A couple of years ago this particular card room stopped having the dealer cut the deck after pulling it from the machine. I guess they decided they'd rather get in an extra fraction of a hand per hour than take an extra step to ensure a random shuffle.

For similar reasons, this card room no longer requires its dealers to count the tray when one dealer replaces another, and forbids its dealers from scrambling the cards when a player asks them to do so.

It's all about the drop.

Re: Most absurd poker "thinking" you have heard in a live game?

Those 3 rules don't sound bad. If I had to choose a room that made dealers cut after a shuffle machine, count the tray when they got to a table & wash the cards when requested or a room that did the opposite of those I'd choose the room saving me time.

Opposed to a room I avoid where ...
1) Dealers carry their own tray and can't sell chips
2) Hand shuffle and have to count the deck when they sit down and at every deck change request.

3) Wash the deck every 2-3 hands ... as an excuse not to put in auto-shufflers
4) Share tokes with the pit

5) Are rotated to and from pit 'as needed' with no Dealers assigned to the poker room full time.
6) If you give your opinion to the Floor before they rule .. you 'will' be wrong .. unless you are a 'super' reg, then you will be 'right'.

Back to 2 through 5 ... It's definitely 'not' about the drop. GL

Just before a 6 max tourney was starting. A couple people were discussing how you need to change your play when 6 handed, one of them completely serious says you actually need to play tighter, its only when antes start do you need to play more hands

Re: Most absurd poker "thinking" you have heard in a live game?

I was playing cash yesterday and its folded to the button who makes it $15. I have JJ in the bb and raise it to $40. He calls and immediately says "agree to roll it?". I say "what?" and he says, "agree to check it down now and let the dealer just deal out the board." I lol and say "no, I don't agree to that." table cracks up laughing.

Guy also moved seats 4 times in an hour. wtf is with that?

This stuff happens a lot. To earn respect in this thread, you have to submit only the things that are truly truly absurd.

Of course, just before a tournament begins the best advice you can give your opponents is bad advice.

Depending on a lot of factors, tightening up because everyone else tends to play looser is not horrible advice. If the structure is too fast, you may not have that luxury, but improving your equity against their range may be profitable.

2/5 game, I open AcKs to 20. One caller.

Flop JT9cc, check check.

Turn Ah, check check.

River Qd, I bet 25. He starts tanking, finally asks if I have a king. I show the Ac, and he quickly calls and shows... J7.

Lol. In these scenarios, you should add something among the lines of: " You had to call. Especially if I showed you an ace. It's 50-50 if I have the king or not".

That's gold, Jerry. Gold!

Reminds me of a hand I may have posted ITT before. If so, sorry for duplicate.

Long story short, dude donks on a KAK8A board, I shove and he snap calls with 66. When I show my top boat he says "I thought you were bluffing." I manage to resist telling him that he couldn't beat the board.

People call stupid bets for chops all the time. Overbetting obvious chops when I beat the chop is a massively profitable position
