in a 2/5 game with a $250 high hand every half hour. You need to use both of your cards, including your kicker.

effective stacks 1200. rec player raises to 30 gets two callers. Flop is QQQ. Player donks out 50, original raiser jams for 1400 and middle player tank/calls off his remaining 450. The donk bettor folds. Turn is a king and he got pissed off and slammed his hand on the table.

As the pot was being pushed to him with quads, he was explaining to the short stack player who called with KK the only reason he jammed was to lock up the high hand. He had QJ. The king on the turn killed it for him. He would have easily made it back if he flatted the donk bet.

The punch line is a bit confusing.

If the hand would have ended on the flop he would have won high hand but a higher kicker came out.

Being upset that he got a $450 call from a player drawing nearly dead instead of winning a $250 high hand (which may not have even held up) is pretty absurd.

I get what happened I don’t get this:

“ He would have easily made it back if he flatted the donk bet.”

he jammed for 1400 otf to end the hand and lock up $250 but if he flatted the $50 donk he would have made more than the 250 if he let the hand play out. He would have gotten an easy 200+ from the donk better on later streets.

I guess. I mean says who? The third player has KK who knows how it plays out.
KK could raise flop, donk folds

Obv was good KK called the shove.

Maybe I’m missing something relative to donk better and who said what.

But he still made more than the $250 the way he played it. That's why your last comment didn't make sense.

Said to me by my opponent at 1/2 after I five bet to a $200 preflop raise with my pocket aces: "I know you would only bet that much with aces or kings, so I CALL!" as he gleefully shoved chips into the middle of the table. He folded to my bet on the flop, proudly turning over his AK os to show me that he knew what he was doing....

He was hoping for that QJT flop.

Mid way through a live turbo tournament, Guy with QQ check raises me on a K high flop about 40% of effective just to "find out if I had a king".

Unfortunately, I didn't.

I see this so much.. player A has premium hand, checks the flop only to have an over hit the turn.. and then they decide to bet.. and usually a stupid overbet amount.

always ask myself.. what would possibly call that other than what beats you.. stupid bet.

I see it more pre flop in 1-2 and 1-3. Raises to 20-25 in 1-2 or 25-35 in 1-3. If that raise gets called by anyone other than a reckless player it's highly unlikely they don't have at least A-K or 8-8 or 9-9 or better. In other words, you're gonna be behind most of the time if it's called

2-5 in Cincinnati:

Two randoms, wild asian guy (WAG) and nitty white guy (NWG).

Pre:

WAG limp in mp. NWG open $15 otb. WAG calls.

Flop: T93r.

WAG donks $25. NWG calls.

Turn: T, still rainbow.

Both check.

River T. Both check.

NWG rolls over 99 thinking he has it locked up. WAG stands up and yells, “I HAVE A TOP TEN TRIPLE FULL HOUSE!!!” and tables AT.

Fun one from last night.

Dealer leaves (actually one of the top 3 dealers in this poker room that has many terrible dealers) the table. One of those terrible dealers comes in as replacement.

Fish next to me "I'm so glad that guy is gone. I dated one of his friends for a while, and he doesn't like me, so I always lose when he's dealing."

Dealer last night said Chris Ferguson was a good guy who paid back the players and why would he rip people off, since he's a billionaire. He's that typical sub 90 IQ guy who's always 100% on everything he says.

Full Tilt was paying off everyone fine until the government shut them down...

Then why didn't they have the money to pay off the players when they were given the opportunity shortly after black friday?

Stars did.

Because 'Stars did a better job of spoofing the US banks and actually collected the deposits from US players who deposited after BF. 'Tilt didn't and was letting people play with deposits that never actually reached the site.

Full tilt distributed out the players funds to its shareholders and did not have the money to pay the players.

It's not the most absurd, but I always think it's an absurd reply when, say, no history between players and a big pot preflop heads up, and someone fires half pot bullets on all streets, loses the pot to a small pair, and asks small pair winner if he would've called an all-in(usually at least the pot or more) on the river, and small pair winner replies, "yes, I would've called". Like, huh? If it's a lie, way to look like a fish.
