$1/$2 at Planet Hollywood. Young kid who looks like he came from the bars and really loose guy(but not out of line post) get into a limped pot. A563 x board Decent amount of money in, young kid bets $50 on river and loose guy ships for $150 more. Kid calls pretty quickly and loose guy has 74o

Kid shows 56 for flopped bottom two. "So sick. I'm good 95% of the time there. Your range is any two"

***** do you even Bayes?

sitting at Borgata 2-5 game...BB and have about $350 from my starting stack of $500. SS moves in for $20. Button flats. I raise to $100 with AA. Button flats.

Flop comes 456. I ship a pot size bet. He calls and says he's ahead. turn is a 6 and he says he's behind river is a 4 and he says "Now i have a full house" and rolls over 45 suited.

when asked why he would call $100 preflop with 45 he said, if I were sitting on $1,000 he would never do it, but since i only had $350 he called.

I guess he missed the implied odds lesson.

This comes up every so often but: Why would you ask him why he calls pre with junk? You want him to keep making those calls obviously, so don't bring attention to the fact it's a bad play.

Live game...I don't reach into my pocket everytime I fall below SS. There's no auto max button on a live table.

1/2

5 limpers ahead of me. Me with Q,10ss limps on from CO

Flop Q,3,7 rainbow
Checks around to me, I bet 10
Horrible old man calls and cranky lady in hi jack calls
Turn 3 completes rainbow
Old man check
Cranky bets 35
I fold
Old man calls

River blank
Old man checks
Cranky shoves with 3,4 off suit
Old man calls with J,3 off for the win

Cranky woman goes ballistic, profanity that would make a sailor blush about how bad old man was. How stupid was he to have J,3 in that spot. She just can't believe how bad he played and got so lucky. She goes on to explain that her having 3,4 was a good play because they were connected.

Normally I just smile and enjoy the entertainment, but decided to see if I could add a little fuel to the fire for my own amusement. So I say they both got lucky hitting their one outer to beat my queen.

Unfortunately she was so focused on how good she played it and telling old man how bad he was that my comments didn't add to her tilt.

She bought in again for 100 and went broke 3 hands later in limped pot where she check\called flop, turn and river on an ace hi board, loosing to a flopped set of 4s. After seeing said hand she flips over pocket jacks, slams them down on the table and storms away while swearing up a storm.

Was fun times.

Is it only a $500 max game? I thought Borgata was $1k cap?

Anyway what I usually do is top off $100 every time I fall $100 below what I want to buy in for, never bother to do like $20 at a time lol.

Sounds like she would have been okay if the J3 was suited.

Sit at a 1/2 table last night next to a guy sucking on a pacifier with tape and plastic around it covering his nostrils. I figure he is wierd or has some kind of dental reconstruction or something so don't ask. He has a notepad and is scribbling notes in it between hands. He is nitty as all get out and I finally realize his notes are tabulating his hole cards and he's there for like 5 hours and doesn't say a word. That pretty much leans to weird.

Another guy joins the table and has the nerve to ask about the pacifier. Guy says it's to keep germs and dust out of his nose. First guy asks wouldn't a surgical mask be better. Pacifier guy says, "Yeah, but that would look weird." Oh boy. Then the floodgates open and he won't shut up. Here are some of his musings...

He won't date shorter women because they would hurt their necks to kiss him (he's only like 6'). But then he proceeds to hit on every woman in the place then says never mind you are too short.

He was hit on by Mila Kunis in an airport but she was too short too.

He prefers to date older supermodels because they are tall.

He has a fascination with wanting to get with the original Wonder Woman, but keeps calling her Suzzane Powers instead of Linda Carter.

Weed was made illegal because of religous reasons..... Jesus proclaimed ninjas would be reincarnated as weed plants, so religions banned weed so people don't smoke reincarnated ninjas who are favorites of Jesus.

He once did an experiment of asking out 2500 women in a year. I ask how he did, he says "got a yes on a about 17 out of 20". I said what about the other 2400 women, he says "huh?".

Costa Rica was happy their ports were destroyed by a hurricane because they don't like people coming there.

I just wish I had a tape recorder.

I call these 'ball park' calls. We will presume that everyone at the table knows what 'ball park' you are in (say AA-JJ/AK .. whatever) and they have cards in a different ball park (bottom third of deck).

So they want to gamble with limited (smaller) risk and can make an easy fold OTF if they don't hit. The limited risk comes in if the opener sucks out on them after the Flop.

I see this a ton in my games ... yes, they aren't using the same implied odds thinking that you would set mine with, but certainly allow them to do so as often as they wish!!

This is a gambling move, not a poker (or even card playing) move ... and all of us (even/especially yours truly) have a bit of gamble in our blood. GL

That reminds me one time when I was playing 1/2 at the Golden Nugget, and some dude next to me started small talking.

He asked me where I was from, I said MN. He said "Do you ever see anything strange up there?"

I asked him what he meant. He said "Like in the woods, anything strange out in the wilderness?"

I said "You mean like Bigfoot."

He got all excited and said "Exactly like that! Have you ever seen anything like Bigfoot?" He was dead serious, and I told him I live in the Twin Cities area, and when I have gone up north to a cabin haven't seen anything like that.

Then he asked "Do you believe in Bigfoot? Because if you don't believe in him you won't be able to find him."

I humored him for a bit but it was insane how dead serious he was discussing this.

Playing a home game with7-8 friends, one of whom is an exceptionally gifted degen who has just barely "learned" the game.
DegenDavid and I are in a hand where I turn the nut flush, bet 2/3 pot (DegenDavid is massive calling station with any piece of the board) DegenDavid snap-calls. River doesn't pair the board so I am holding the true nuts, 2/3 pot again David thinks for about 15 seconds and calls.
Me - "What the Hell do you have?"
David tables K-high air
Me - "what the (expletives deleted) are you doing calling that bet with that (more expletives delted)(a couple more expletives deleted)?
Daivd - "I thought I could bluff you there..."
Me - CALLING THE RIVER IS NEVER A BLUFF! HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO FOLD IF YOU JUST CALL?
David - "Oh, yeah, guess I never looked at it that way..."

I down the rest of my beer, stack my chips and deal the next hand, all the while trying desperately to make my brain stop hurting from the idiocy it just had to process.

So you invite a friend who doesn't know the game, slow roll him with the nuts and then abuse and insult him after you win. Indeed a nice example of absurd poker thinking. I hope you enjoyed that $10 pot.

Playing 1/3, 6 players in a limped pot. I am in the SB, I check the flop. The Utg player checks and the next player bets 35 into the $18 pot. Big blind exclaims that he hasn't acted. Dealer says there's been significant action since there was a check and a bet after his turn. He protests and argues. Dealer calls the floor who says that the action was not significant, and action will come back to the big blind.

Floor leaves. Big blind tanks and asks to have the floor called back. Floor returns. Big blind asks if he checks, does the $35 bet stay in. Floor says yes. After all that, BB checks. Folds around to him. He folds.
