^^^lol this happens in cash games all the time. People will flat call preflop for like 75% of their stack with a suited connector and check/fold the flop if they miss. too funny

Without knowing what the flop was, or whether we're in or near the money yet, it's reasonable.

TT on a board of AAQ facing a bet for my entire stack. I'm folding. You can argue not shoving pre-flop or not calling the re-raise, but once you're beat, there's no sense in putting in good money after bad.

Board was KJ5 rainbow. He had to call 1300 to win ~21000. if he has 66 and opponent shows KJ he has odds to call. If you would fold TT on AAQ getting 17 to 1, that's not good.

We weren't near the money, probably 60 players left, paying 15.

and even ignoring this, yes the preflop flat/flat combo is ridiculous, esp if you ever have a plan of folding. if he had flatted half his stack with the plan of shoving any flop, whatever.

Read the fine print. In most places in California it's Aces full of Tens or Jacks beaten by quads or better. So, Aces's full of Jacks beaten by Aces full of Kings does not qualify.

In a cash game once. Had Q7ss and flop comes JsTs7x. Guy leads for like $30, I make it $100. He flats with 60 behind. Turn comes a J. He checks, I bet a stack big enough to cover him. He shakes his head, shows T7, and mucks.

My guess is that he was planning on "trapping" you on the turn and figured you would fold to a 3-bet. He saw his 2-pair counterfeited and folded, realises he loses to any J, any overpair, 98, TT, 77 and most Tx hands. Realising he is probably way behind he folds. Yes his flop play is questionable but his turn fold is hardly high on the absurd scale when he now only beats a draw and is drawing practically dead to all other hands you have. With the number of made hands you could have and the fact most live players play draws passively I am not sure even the 4:1 he is offered is good enough odds to call there as your hand is weighted strongly to hands that crush him.

This isn't half as bad as most of the entries ITT, but still pretty lolbad obviously.

This is very common in split H/L games.
It is heads up. You have the high lock and a marginal low. It looks like the other person has the low. That person will usually tell you to check. I say (to myself) F that. I'm betting. The rake has already been capped. The person then says something sarcastic/nasty to me. Happens all the time. Mostly they are right. Occasionally they are counterfeited but still have a bad low and I scoop.
FYI - I see regs check it down to each other all the time. I disagree with that too.

A dealer at MGM last night volunteered some sage advice to the table. He said "never underestimate what your opponent can have. If it's out there, they have it."

My favorite saying when I used to play in Tunica a lot was "I know you got me, but I gotta call". I heard this so many times from different players just because they did not want to get bluffed out of a pot. They would normally call with top pair on a flush or straight just to see the hand. I thought it was just a 1/2 thing and then I was playing 10/20 and heard it a couple of times.

When someone is faced with a bet for all of their chips in a cash game and say something like, "I'll call, I wanna go home anyway." This kills me everytime. Newsflash buddy, if you want to go home, you can rack up and leave. You are not forced to play until you have no chips left. I just never understood this.

The guy was Persian abd this other older guy is like he had u all the way. I just started cracking up. He's like buddy ask anyone k7 suited is a better hand than aj any day. He was serious. I'm like I'll pay u 100 bucks if u can find me 2 ppl who agree with u. He's like are that blind that ud pick aj over k7? He was dead serious!

A friend of a friend who plays semi regular at the casino I play at brought up some poker strategy during a home game last night.

According to him the best way to win at the casino is to find a pattern in the cards and seats. As time goes on certain seats get good cards while other seats get bad cards, the trick is to sit in the seat that has the good cards and avoid the seats with bad cards. But the hard part according to him is that the seats change throughout the day and you have to request seat changes. So he watches what seats are getting good hands and when the person leaves the seat he asks for it.

EZ game

I was outside smoking a cigarette, and I heard someone say, with regard to the bad beat jackpot, "After the flop, make sure you call with air."

(while this encounter did not happen during a "live game", it is thinking that exists in a live game...so here goes)
As I left the card room and went out to the parking lot, another player was pacing back and forth looking defeated while wondering how he was going to get home. He saw me and asked to borrow $20. He's a nice enough fellow, so I gave it to him. The next time he saw me, he paid me back. A few weeks later, the exact same scenario occurs. As I leave, he's pacing around outside the door toward the parking lot. I knew what was coming...and sure enough he hits me up for another $20. But this time he also says "Hey, you actually leave when you're ahead don't you". I said yes. You could see the light go on, and he says "I'm gonna change my philosophy".

No that is in a live game, just because it wasn't 'at the table' doesn't mean it wasn't a live game.

I have been asked that question more than once about how do I know when it is time to leave. I told them, when the clock hits midnight. I usually play til midnight when I play in the evening. They look puzzled because they just don't understand. I mean, everyone does have a different philosophy as I have seen people literally play for 20 min. after they came and hit a big pot and leave. I put in my head to remember the next time that guy comes, he is scared money. Little things like that. His problem obviously isn't changing his philosophy, it is changing his life. He must not have a vehicle and plays whatever money he has on him, instead of making sure he gets home!!!

This thread is f****** hilarious.

My addition isn't so funny but the same guy who was on my right and reluctantly folded ducks pre after a cold 4 bet shove, showing them to me and asking if I'd have called, quite frequently refers to the big stack as "the chip leader" in a 1/2 cash game. Tilts the sht out of me.

i was the chip leader yesterday in my 1/2 NL game i had over $700 because you know as chip leader in a cash game you have control over the table i was crushing right and left which you can only do when you have the big stack!!
