I know I did something terrible once by LA standards and got groans from the table when i did it but I am still not sure what it was. Somehow I was supposed to fold my small blind or they would rake the pot a lot and key my car or something.
Better to just not play in LA ever if you can avoid it. Having a preflop drop is criminal imo.

Ultimate Texas Holdem table game ... Everybody checks to 'River'

Board is AKA-K5 rainbow ...

3 Players have Jx in their hand and all three take at least 90 seconds to commit to the 'calling' bet

Dealer flips over TT and 2 Players show bad body language (like they lost) and smack their cards down on table

Good thing there is no mucking in that game!! GL

PS ... If you don't know the game, you just have to beat the Dealer and you can bet PF (3-4x), Flop (2x) or Turn/River (1x) your initial bet based on your hand strength. So they were tanking with AKAKJ against the random hand of the Dealer.

Playing Big O at one of the rooms in Austin. Two guys are playing every hand, and raising aggressively in a lot of them. Easy money if you just sit back and wait for hands. Old grumpy nit next to me keeps making snarky comments when they raise. He then stands up says "This isn't poker" racks up his chips and leaves.

It's always so confusing to see the legitimate RAGE build up over the course of their session until they just snap.

From my post #7130 just a couple weeks ago, literally two people did the exact same thing during that week’s MSPT event, comical. I miiiiiiiiight have been a catalyst to why they felt that way but we can never know for sure.

Pot get shipped to other side of table. Guy next to me says under his breathe “according to icm I should’ve played that hand...”

You need to use DCM instead of ICM in small stakes cash. The nits' chips are worth way more than the fun players', especially if you can bust the nit and have him leave the table.

I think you have to ask him to explain that further.. "oh ICM, what's that?"
You would have surely gotten another gem or two.

I'm about to approach a poker table. And lo and behold my favorite player in the world to play with. I don't know his name but he mentioned once he's from Edmonton. So I just refer to him as Ed. Ed is one of the most loose/aggressive players I know and not in a good way. He just really likes to overvalue his hands. Time and time again I sit down to see Ed with a huge stack and time and time again I know by the end of the night he will be flat broke.

About 20 minutes into playing, Ed raises to 12 dollars as Ed likes to do. There are 6 callers. Everyone kind of knows they are getting the right implied odds to call with all sorts of hands. I got 7-2 and sit this out. Flop comes A-6-2 all spades. Everyone checks and Ed bets out $35. Everyone folds except OMC who check raises him all in. Ed thinks for a while and finally calls. He shows A-J offsuit and OMC shows K-J of spades. About 300 is promptly removed from Ed's stack.

Ed slows down for a while but another 30 minutes later, Ed bets out 20 and a couple looser players call. Flop comes K-J-10 rainbow. Ed bets out $45, gets called by one guy. Turn is a 2, total brick. Ed bets out 100 and gets called. River is a 4. Ed checks. The other player bets 150 and Ed calls. Ed shows A-K and the other player shows A-Q. The trap was on. Ed's stack now goes down by about another 300.

Another hour later, Ed raises to 15. Other guy goes all in and Ed thinks for a while and calls with J-10 suited. Other guy had pocket kings. 2 jacks hit the flop and hold up. Ed picks up about 200 from that pot.

Finally, our hero, namely me, picks up Ace-10 suited on the puck. 2 limpers but Ed actually folded. I raise to 15.00 and 1 person calls. Flop comes 10-8-4. Check to me and I bet 30.00 and I get called, turn is a 7. I get a bit nervous that I just got beaten by J-9. But It's checked to me again. I bet out another 30 and get called.

River is another 10. I get cold feet as the other player bets out 50 dollars. I kind of know this player and knows he likes to bet around 50 when he has the nuts and overbets his bluffs. I talk myself out of raising and call. The villain shows K-10 to my relief and I pickup the pot.

I turn to Ed and say.."I guess I'm a big nit, I know you would have gone all in".

Ed turns to me and says: "no way man, you have to call there, you are only going to get called for a raise by a hand that's beating you."

Pretend to mishear and ask him who is better at poker, Violent J or Shaggy 2 Dope.

You could have gobne full nerd on him and either asked him what nuclear missiles had to do with this, or why ping\traceroute would have made him play that hand?

I actually for real have heard a guy try to discuss ICM at the table and refer to it as “ICBM”, so this isn’t that far-fetched.

When talking about ICBMs with the losing regs, the only winning move is not to play.

I was in a tournament and an UTG player that I know pretty well limps, I pop it in the BB with QQ after a few more limps. He jams everybody else folds. I reason that he doesn't have KK or AA or he would have opened pre. After the hand is over a big discussion about if it's ok to limp KK or AA UTG ensues. One guy that's trying to defend it says that he sees "People in Vegas do it all the time." Hahaha, what a joke.

Anyway, it was AK and my queens held.

I don't play tournaments so I had to look up what ICM stood for. I tried in vain for five minutes coming up with an analogy, but nothing could top it.

Short handed 20-40 7 Card Stud high game at Commerce. Just 3 of us. Other players are walking or sitting out for a bit.

Bring-in to my right. I have a Jack door, and nothing else. Raise. Guy behind me has an 8 door and folds. Friend of his was watching and saw his cards. Says “what are you doing?!”. Response is something like “no way I’m playing that - this dealer always screws me.” His hole cards? Pocket 8’s for rolled 8’s.

Does this actually qualify as “thinking”?

I never thought to take into account the EV of the dealer when choosing to play a hand.
