Newer PLO player ... Board AA44J ... He shows A4 and V shows AJ and gets the pot.

Another player tells newbie that he needed the last 4 to come out, then it was a chop. Newbie says ... Yes, next time. It doesn't phase either one of them what they 'agreed' to. GL

All the absurdly stupid stuff involves chopping. One time a guy told me how he was the BB, it folded to the SB, and so BB asked if he wanted to chop. SB declined and raised w/ AA. BB tells me he knew he had AA, but to punish him for his terrible play he put him all in. SB called, and BB sucked out w/ J5s. The table laughed at SB's poor play, then agreed that there is no situation in which you should decline a chop as the sb.

This is the funniest ever.
He wanted to punish the dude with J5S.
He probably thought if I hit my hand that guy is toast.

Kinda humerous thing I overheard just outside the poker room during tourney break walking by a group of middle-aged men with everything to prove trading up to the minute "bad beat" stories:

One of them who just busted was in the middle of a rant, straight up grandstanding, barking out "I f*ckin hate antes!!! Antes are complete f*ckin unfair bull****!!!" etc. etc. The other guys were eagerly nodding their heads in agreeance.

2/5 at Caesars, I tank-called an all-in shove on a 789r flop after 3-betting pre and c-betting the flop with AKcc. Villain had A10hh and missed and I won the nice pot. After the hand villain said I shouldn't have called because 'he had 8 outs and I only had 6'. Whatever, buddy

I love hearing players explain the logic behind their "favorite hands" usually after they suck out with them. "I always play 97 my daughter was born in 1997 its my favorite hand" "i always play 52 my wife is 5'2 its my favorite hand"

gtfoh

I'd love to meet his daughter when his favorite hand is 99.

Don’t you mean it looks good but never wins?

Foxwoods 2000 or 2001 Limit $5-10 hold-em game with kill button

fish is on kill button hand after hand and calling raises or raising with hands like 56 54 46 58 35 37 36 and smashing every flop and pissing off all the reg OMC's
I'm LMAO and OMC's are openly trash taking him and he's run $300 up to over 1k
He then turns to me and says "THEY JUST DON'T GET IT; THEY PLAY ALL THE HIGH CARDS WHICH MEANS THE FLOP WILL ALWAYS COME LOW CARDS AND HIT MY HAND"

18 years later it's still the same thing. Usually it happens after someone calls a raise or a 3-bet with low hands then says "I figure you guys were on high cards so my cards are more live" or something to that effect. It's very very common fish thinking and I hear it regularly.

Not the most absurd ever but this guy wins a tournament and says he didn't have to run good to win it.

I was like how do you win a tournament without running good.

He said he kept flopping the nuts and getting it in vs. people drawing dead.

Someone at the table couldn't resist and said something along the lines of flopping the nuts is a skill.

I wonder how he defines 'running good'

Pretty sure he thinks running good = sucking out on people.

You know, running over EV.

A middle-aged woman next to me referred to sets and trips as flushes numerous times over the span of two hours. I thought she misspoke the first time, but she kept saying it! I just nodded whenever she talked to me about these "flushes".

I was playing in a 20-40 limit omaha hi/lo game one time. This guy ended up scooping a pot with 10 10 10 8. That's right, omaha hi/lo, and the guy played 10 10 10 8. His response after someone berated him was, I played it for the 10 8 suited. WOW

Ive never played O8 higher than 4/8 kill but in an 8 hour session I think I could count the number of preflop folds from the whole table on one hand. And that was usually just because someone had to step away to pee.

Harrah's 2018 - Last week

Playing in the 7 p.m. tournament and an older gentleman sitting next me is calling everyone's all in. After the 4th buy in he is moved to another seat at the table. Someone asked him why he kept calling and his response, " I didn't want to lose my seat before my tequila arrived."

Seminole Hard Rock last night:

3 way action on the flop 38Q rainbow. OMC raises all in against two absolute maniacs.

Hero hits the table along with the customary wishing of "GL all-in!"

OMC deadpans, "I don't need your luck."

Hero says to others not in the hand, "I'd rather be lucky than good but w/e..." Table and OMC look at Hero like he's the ******ed offspring of Forrest Gump and I am Sam.

On the river, OMC shows a flopped set of Queens. Maniac turns over J8 offsuit - which had hit a runner runner straight.

I just sipped my beer as he realized the err of his ways having cursed the poker gods. I couldn't bring myself to rub it in with an "I told you so."

Two years ago, 1-3$ cash game at the Meadows casino. Guy to my right tries to give me betting tips after I messed up a flop bet with a set of 6's. My bad, yeah I bet way to small, I get it. 30 minutes later I spend 10 seconds making a decision on what my bet size should be with AKo he looks over to me "Let me see your hand". Ummm no?

Was at a table over the weekend talking about changing over to a big blind ante, and I mentioned that it speeds up play a little and you get to see more hands. A woman replies, "so what....you see more hands....what good does that do?"

smh

playing last night. 1/2NL UTG limps, one other limper(noob/no clue.. literally called everything) and back to me.. I raise to $65.. extremely stupid/fun table and was looking to get heads up with noob player.. well UTG calls... long story short his A6dd beat my AKo after he flopped two pair.

as he was scooping the pot I asked him if there was any amount that I could have bet to have him fold and his response.. "pre flop? A6dd? probably not.. not with them being diamonds..well maybe $100 I would have". I asked him what his cutoff would have been if they were clubs.. did not get a response to that.
