It's more fun to let someone else bring politics up first and take the opposite opinion of whoever insists on talking about politics at the table.

hero raises AA (no )
whale call

flop: Q64

hero bets pot/whale calls

turn: 6

hero bets pot (40bb)/whale calls

river: 8

hero check/whale shoves/hero calls remaining 30 bb (pot is huge and whale would bet worse here)

whale shows set of 8s

Hero: unreal
Whale: why didn't you ship the turn, i fold if you ship the turn
Hero: why would i ship the turn?
Whale: idk, i guess you must have thought i had a 6
Hero: ummm, yeah, i guess

20ish minutes later

Hero 3! an open w/ QxQ
Whale only caller

Flop: KQ7

hero bets pot/whale calls

Turn: 4

hero bets pot/whale jams for heros effective 200 bb/hero snaps

river blank

whale shows K4

Whale: man, i can't believe i'm not good here. what a cooler! everyone would think 2P was good here.
Hero: ummm, yeah, sorry, it was a cooler.

Because he should have folded pre? Once he sees a flop the hand is a cooler by any definition. Even a good player is getting stacked the same way.

Calling a psb OTF in a 3! Pot with TPNK is standard and a cooler. Got it. Thanks

Not to mention he cold called a 3! With K4s.

No wonder llsnl is a goldmine

Pre is obviously bad, postflop is a cooler. Is he supposed to fold top pair to one bet? That would be insane. Once he hits two pair he actually beats AK and AA.

$1/2 NL:

Flop: 662

P1 bets

P2 is the only caller

both check the 9 on the turn

runs out to: 66299

Player A bets the river and player B calls

Player A flips over K 2 and announces: pair of deuces

Player B gleefully flips his pocket 3's over and comments, "Ha! I knew I had you beat!" He didn't understand why the pot was being pushed to Player A.. and Player A didn't either...

This one is actually from a Facebook group but I found it cute and we gotta keep the thread rolling.

Q. Was it okay to shove K9o for 8bbs from CO with 6 players left and 4 being paid?

Reply 1: Well, Nash says we can shove K8s+, KTo+

Reply 2: "If k10o and k8s is a shove then k9o is 100% a shove"

I used to say this as a (lame) joke in cases where I knew my hand was no good but I stopped b/c half the time some nit would think I was serious and explain to me that there is no such hand. Thanks!

You can't play a hand absolutely terribly and have it be a "cooler"

Don't know why not...I have never heard anything like this said before, and it certainly never went into my definition of a cooler.

Maybe I have the wrong definition/thinking. For me a cooler respresents a situation where you have no choice but to get the money in. In a simple example, AA v KK 30 by preflop would be a 'cooler' since both villains played reasonably and if switched the money would get in.

In this example, if you flop the scripts most 'good' or more players would not have lost their stack as the huge mistake pre would not have happened.

Just IMO

To me a cooler is when you have a really good hand but someone else happens to have a better hand, so you lose.
