1/2/5 PLO. Guy limps UTG. At showdown he shows K,10, 4,6, all of hearts. Someone comments that he played that hand with 4 hearts and he replies "well yea, I was going for a straight flush and had a few different ways to make it"

that hand can make quite a few straight flushes.

There are people in PLO who will play 95% of the hands. Saw a guy the other day call a raise with 7774 and win when a 7 hit the flop with a set.

1/3 NLHE pre-flop raise to $60 2 callers
Flop aj9r
Pre-flop raiser all in for $160 both calls
3rd guy in shows 74 people on table said it was a good call both pre and on flop as he had backdoor flush draw.

Yes they were serious.

Some people are desperate for some backdoor action

Is anyone a member of "The Poker Forum" private Facebook group? It's a gold mine for absurd thinking.

At least someone understands this, unlike the poster

Heard some good ones last night:

It started with the dealer telling me how statistically it was much more likely for the BBJ to be hit when the deck is machine shuffled vs hand shuffled. He said that the machine just does something to the cards and that you'll never hit it will a hand shuffle....ok.

Then I got treated to a smorgasbord of ppl taking about their favourite hands. "99 is my favourite hand - it never loses". Next guy says "ya 99 is good but nothing beats 9Ts" .... "Oh ya. 9T is the best"

It was just non stop all night. "9s are hot tonight"

"I never change seats, I don't know why ppl do it"

Apologies if this has been mentioned already.

Player wins hand with a straight. As he is stacking chips he tells table, "I only play every sixth hand that could make a straight. Proper odds you know."

Thankfully there was silence at the table to this remark.

This is pretty absurd on its own.

Sounds like a leveling war where one guy is in the basement and another guy is in a sub-basement.

Probably mixing it up in order to remain unpredictable.

Live 5/5 nl... I sit down and to my right sits a 20 something wearing the cliche 'pro' uniform, headphones, track jacket, etc. He has two books on the table next to his chips. 'Play poker like the pros' by hellmuth and 'harrington on cash games volume 1.' He consults these books throughout every hand he plays. Although nobody seems interested, he announces to the table that the hellmuth boom is more basic and good for selecting starting hands, whereas the harrington book is for 'really complicated postflop decisions.'

After a few orbits, it's folded to our avid reader in the cuttoff, who consults the hellmuth book and limps (65 bb deep). Folded to sb who raises to 7bbs. Avid reader calls (eff stack was his 65bb). Avid reader calls. Flop 88Jr. Sb bets 11bb, avid reader calls. Blank turn. Sb bets 16bb and reader calls (now having committed near two thirds of his stack. River is a king and check, check. Sb shows pocket queens, avid reader shows k9 off and takes the pot. Sb says wtf... Avid reader says he had Implied odds. Sb says wtf u mean, you called most of your stack with air. Avid reader picks up the harrington book, and points to a paragraph that says that the worse your opponent is, the better your implied odds so the more you can call. He says 'if you were a better player I wouldn't have called that much, but your so bad that I had the correct implied odds.'[
THis gem!

Happened yesterday at 1/2 in a casino.

I was SB, BB ~$60 in chips. Fold to MP-raises to 8, one call, folded to CO-calls, BTN calls, I fold, BB calls.

5 to a flop ($41 in pot)

Flop: 2c, 6h, 10c

Checked to CO-bets $12, BTN calls, BB calls, 2 fold

3 to turn ($77 in pot)

Turn: 2c, 6h, 10c, [4d]

CO-checks, BTN bets $20, BB calls, CO calls

3 to river ($137 in pot)

River: 2c, 6h, 10c, 4d, [7c]

BB checks (~$20 behind), CO checks, BTN bets $30...

BB: flashes me Kc9c, mucks, CO calls. BTN shows Ac,5c and wins with nut flush.

BB: "I knew he had to have the Ac when he bet out on the river! That's the only thing he could have."

LOL. He called down with K high flush draw and nothing else, hits his flush, and then folds for just $20 more into a pot of ~$170. Sick reads.

Last night at 1/3 at Baltimore Horseshoe, player in 4 seat, an OMC type, is regularly getting into hands with 8 seat, who I know from the past to be a habitual draw chaser.

Two little gems:
First, 4 seat tells 8 seat, "Any time you bet into me, I'm folding. I can't beat you". (Then he proceeds to live up to his word)

THEN 8 seat completely fails to exploit this, ONLY betting out when he hits his flush, and showing every time.
