I'm looking to take my mom out on vacation. Anyone know any good resorts that have poker rooms and are a resort, prefer in North America.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

What do you want the resort to offer? When do you wish to go? Which is more critical the resort amenities or the poker?

There are some nice resorts in Caribbean that have meh poker and vice versa. Or do you want a nice resort with poker nearby? Do you need or want full casino?

Also what kind of price range?

My wife votes for the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas. Though it doesn't have a casino. Its right next door to the Aria though. And from a poker standpoint its within reach of a variety of places.

If I wasn't married I might choose the Wynn because apparently part of the application process for waitresses is that they are also super models.

If your game is LHE the Bellagio which is gorgeous might be the best bet. Though I haven't played there in over ten years so I don't know what its like now. I do know that they used to have 30/60 LHE games but now have 20/40 LHE as their main game (I think).

The Venetian poker room is where I would go for tournaments. They have a number of Deepstack series every year with auto shufflers and at least 40 minute levels (which translate to about 1 hour levels with hand shuffling). And the hotel itself is probably lovely (never stayed there).

While in Las Vegas there are a bunch of wonderful shows including a number of Cirque de Soleil (hopefully still all there). My wife says go to the underwater one.

And finally Foxwoods if your Mom likes to bowl. They also have concerts there regularly so you could check out if there was a group that your Mom loved when she was younger. I managed to see Yes for the first time in my life and they played one of my all time favorite songs (Roundabout). They opened for Styxx which is now a joke of a band. 60+ guys in tight leather pants gyrating all over the place and unable to actually play in synch. So great concert followed by one of my least favorite concerts. My wife and family also came for a Wynona Ryder concert which was a lot of fun (and we all bowled). If you do go to Foxwoods make sure to take your Mom to Somewhere In Time, a fun restaurant for breakfast. I have been going there for over ten years and have only ever ordered the Santa Fe Omelet (so good I never wanted to order anything else). I have also taken out some blueberry muffins which are like homemade awesome.

Bellagio- Great Resort. Poker, casino, pools, shows, dining. all 1st class.

Under the Radar- South Point- Best poker room in Las Vegas, as far as locals are concerned. Many and varied dining choices, from cuisine and price points. Bowling, movie theater. Airport shuttle available.

It depends what you wan't and are looking for. Like others have said what are your interests?

Do you want to stay off the beaten bath (the strip) and stay somewhere within driving distance?

My mother who comes to visit often always loves going to Red Rock Resort. Her immediate family lives here and every time she and her brothers and sister get's the chance she goes to Red Rock. She's never actually stayed there but loves going there. She is in her 50's. The poker room there is great and they have a great floor staff with soft games going. Red Rock is off the beaten path and there are many areas that your mom can go see if she is trying to stay low key but still be in Vegas. There is angel park if she golfs and Downtown Summerlin is right next door if she want's to go shopping/people/watch etc. Also, if you do want to do something on the strip it's a stones throw away. Do yourself a favor though rent a car and come down on a Wednesday-Saturday thing. You'll save a lot of money and be able to do a lot more activities if you have your own vehicle.

If Red Rock doesn't look like your thing take your mother to Resorts World. It's the newest casino on the strip and within walking distance to Fashion Show Mall and the Wynn/Encore.

That was for Las Vegas. For the rest of North America well, that spans 3 countries. It's going to matter where she has been, whether she likes cold or hot weather, or if this is pure vacation with poker on the side. If thats the case I would even recommend doing a poker cruise. Poker, Drinks, Food, Exotic Locations, Recreational Activities? What's not to love?

I recommend CardPlayer Cruises

Just make sure you are up to date on your vaccinations

The benefit of doing the cruise is that many of their ports depart from cities that already have popular poker rooms i.e. Los Angeles, Miami. Cruises will take you down to Mexico from Los Angeles, the Caribbean from Miami.

I hope you guys a great vacation OP!

For Vegas my vote goes to Vdara. Right next to both Bellagio and Aria, two stellar casinos. Really nice rooms and it doesn’t attract the same sort of crowd as a hotel with a casino.
