My comment was a joke. As the dealer, if a player was facing the stone cold nuts, I would prod him to show or muck after about 15 seconds.

Very few people can play with them properly. It gets annoying when every time Mr. Headphones is in a hand he does the *removes headphones and asks what the bet is* move at least once.

It's like Mr. iPhone. If you can play Angry Birds while paying attention, good for you. Most people need to be reminded every time it's their turn.

He was literally talking about their hands. They must have had some nice jewelry on them and been really clean.

-Dealers who choose to look up from the table right after the flop. The pot is 7 ways and half these players can't tell if it's been checked to them. What ends up happening in the transition from seat 9 to 1 is a fustercluck of people acting out of turn. Control the game!

-Counting out chips individually. Subsequently, mashing a hamfist full of them as the bet, forcing the dealer to clean up the chips into stacks to make sure it's the correct amount, forcing him/her to miss the action behind, and slowing the game down.

-Players who are super proud of full houses or better. Good for ****ing you. Next hand please.

-"Who raised?" If the action is on you, this takes not much time to figure out.

-"How many players in the hand?" This might actually take less than a second to figure out.

-"How much is it to me?"
"It's been raised."
"How much?"
In a limit game... Come on.

Rule #1 when it comes to gambling: Know your limits.

I've been thinking about creating a redonkulous donkumentary on all of the donktarded and donktastic things that donkeys do.

People who try to change their luck by:
- sitting out until the "unlucky" dealer changes shifts
- asking for a new set up, constantly

Along the same lines, when a player either loses a hand and blames the dealer, "This dealer always gives me bad beats."

Is anyone else but me looking at this thread as a set of suggestions to help put good players off their cheese?

I have been using some of these in my travels the past couple weeks. have been most effective used in the first 30 min at table

Just live players in general - especially when they start complaining about being card dead (when it's been 2 orbits max) or not winning a flip since 1992......

Or when they do lose a flip they start complaing of how lucky you are because you four-flushed them or caught a backdoor straight when they paired on the flop on something stupid like that.

Also agree with the stuff about players with headphones not keeping track of the action - even more tilting when players without headphones do it every hand. Sorry, if you are going to play then at least have the decency not to be a spazz and actually keep track of things :@

Actually, I don't mind the people that can't keep track of the action. If they can't pay attention enough to know when action is on them then they're also missing out on everything else at the table. That's basically what fish do. Just politely remind them and gradually stack their chips onto your pile.

In many California rooms (such as Commerce) the disk is not giant. It's just larger than a chip.

At any rate, I've talked to floors about this, and you really ARE NOT supposed to post the kill over the disk. The disk is supposed to be visible for the cameras.

Live poker pet peeves

I play alot of 7card and my biggest Live poker pet peeve is: when a player doesn't pay attention to board cards or b*tchs about not getting a card(and if only looked across the table he would have seen the card he needed was dead)

In live poker this is super, super standard.

And look back at their cards, then the board, then their cards, then the board ... super annoying!

I've found that mediocre players give away a tremendous amount of information when you ask this question every once in a while.

Typically, I use this question when someone who likes to limp or flat opens a lot, all of a sudden raises preflop. Even if it looks like I'm watching the baseball game, I'm well aware of who put the raise in. But when asking this question, you can pretty much tell by their comfort level if they have AA (perfectly calm) vs QQ-KK (smile, but watching me closely) vs. JJ or AK (crapping their pants, trying to decide what to do if I re-raise).


Maybe I do this once every 3 or 4 hours, seemed a useful bit of table talk to me... It really doesn't slow the game down more than a few seconds, it's not an angle of any kind. But it never even occurred to me that such a thing might also tilt a player decent enough to be on a forum!

-I get pissed when people who aren't in the hand make comments during play that affect the outcome of the hand. Here are some examples:

1. When there's a string bet/string raise
- If i'm in the hand sometimes I want the string bet or string raise to occur as if I didn't see it because I'm holding the nuts and want the extra money in the pot.
2. When there's a chopped pot
- if the board is A22 J 5 and I have A-10 and the other player hasA-9 , but both he as well as the dealer doesn't notice it's a chop, the other player mucks his cards and someone says something and the player retrieves his cards before they reach the muck and are still live. It might be considered "angling" but I always open my cards face up and the dealer's job is to push the pot to the winner; if someone wants to muck then I won't object to it.

3. When I say : How much is the bet?/ How much do you have behind? etc etc
- Basically I hate it when someone who isn't involved in the hand says the amount the othe rguy has/bets cuz it distracts from the intimate mind**** we are trying to do to each other while in the hand. I want to get a read on his response, not a financial commentary.

The hoody kids counting out chips in stacks of two...

I forgot to mention that I hate when the dealer get's involved unnecessarily. There's a place I play at on a regular basis and and one of the dealers always says the following whenever the river is out: "Now there's a straight, AND a flush out there." I ****ign hate him...

1) Agree. If you aren't in the pot STFU. You aren't the poker police.

2) Don't agree so much. Cards play. Feels shady to me.

I would only add the idiots that call out information on the board -- like "oooooooh flush out there". Seriously shut up!!

Lol hadn't read this far. Totally agree. If a player does it, I'm pissed. If a dealer does it more than once, I'm talking to the floor.
